COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 2012 bottling. Fantastic stuff. Nice warm bourbon aroma. Great balance of bourbon, coffee and chocolate. Not as heavy on the bourbon as some of the others, but this does have some age on it. The coffee held up remarkably well, i thought that would fade out over time.

Re rate with 13 bottle. For some reason, this years batch didnít impress. A little thin, bourbon was a bit light. I guess when I had it the first time I was a bit new to the BA stout scene, and now Iíve had a lot that impress me more.

14 another year and Iím even less impressed. Thin and weak. If this were a shelf 6 pack Iíd put it next to black butte porter. Not worth the hype or price.

Pours dark, dark brown into snifter with a very thin light brown head. Wonderful nose - vanilla, bourbon, and cherries. Taste is complex and smooth...bourbon, vanilla, oak, coffee, and a touch of bitterness. I get the hype - this is a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At a tasting, many thanks Tom, small brown creamy head, thick pour, opaque black colour, flavour of cocoa, dirt, coffee and vanila in the back, feels quite aromatic, flavour of not too roasted coffee, cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, vanila and dark bread. Nicely balanced and really really good.

Noire aux reflets rubis avec une belle mousse moka. Nez: Truffe au chocolat. Anisé. Café corsé. Bourbon. Boisé/vanille. Bouche: nougat. Caramel au beurre salé. Bien chocolaté. Très bien équilibré. Sucré balancé avec une bonne amertume. Fine chaleur d'alcool (bourbon). Jalapeño, sans le piquant. Très bien.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium creamy tan head that lasts. The aroma is a strong roast, chocolate, oak, and booze. Slick mouthfeel with nice roasted malt, dark chocolate, and light coffee. Easy to drink, hiding alcohol well, really enjoyed this.

Got it in a bottle at house of beer. Pours kinda flat jet black. Aroma of bitter black, chocolate coffee, butter, plum, cherry. Thick and well carbonated for the style. Holy cow, so happy i found this. Light bourbon flavor with strong bitter dark chocolate much like aroma. Terrific. Super sweet. Little booze. Wish i had a fridge full.

Dark black pour with tan head... Amazing bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt aroma... Flavor is fairly mild, not terribly boozy or rich for that matter... Decent, little disappointed ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
