A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 2012 bottling. Fantastic stuff. Nice warm bourbon aroma. Great balance of bourbon, coffee and chocolate. Not as heavy on the bourbon as some of the others, but this does have some age on it. The coffee held up remarkably well, i thought that would fade out over time.

Re rate with 13 bottle. For some reason, this years batch didn’t impress. A little thin, bourbon was a bit light. I guess when I had it the first time I was a bit new to the BA stout scene, and now I’ve had a lot that impress me more.

14 another year and I’m even less impressed. Thin and weak. If this were a shelf 6 pack I’d put it next to black butte porter. Not worth the hype or price.

Strong bourbon notes on the aroma with notes of oak. Appearance is a very dark brown with a good sized tan head. Flavor has notes of chocolate, bourbon, oak and notes of coffee. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a great beer. It definitely lived up to the hype. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. Film, and halo of beige head. It’s leggy, viscous, and in slow motion. There’s vanilla. Rum truffle. Chocolate caramel. A bit woody. Very rich. Taste is light sweet. Fruity dry. Palate is full, smooth, and unctuous. The coffee kicks in stealthily late. Finishes light bitter, and long, chewy, unctuously sweet. Never feels the ABV. Beautiful.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2015 Yep this is good. Dark black. Subtle coffee. Vanilla and oak. Chocolate. Incredibly balanced. No idea how to improve this other than copious amounts of vanilla. Tasted at cuginos with Carter.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2015 Great beer, Henrik, top 5.0. Just one bottle...I think. Dark black, light brown head, lasting. Heavy malty, roasted aroma, vanilla, notes of coffee. Notes of whisky and barrels, alcohol. Flavor starts roasted sweet, warming alcohol, faint smoke from the whisky. Creamy, syrupy texture.

355ml bottle. Dark brown/black with short tan head. Aroma is dark malty, charred wood, rich coffee notes. Dark chocolate and coffee taste. Plenty of coffee bitterness in effect to counter the sweetness. Bold, powerful and flavourful, but drinks pretty easily. Very good.

Poured a dark brown to opaque black with a toffee head. Aroma is coffee, toffee, chocolate, and roasted malts with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is coffee upfront followed by chocolate and dark fruits. Somewhat bittersweet. Medium to full bodied with a sweet chewy mouthfeel. Every bit worth the 2 month wait to get this beauty.
