A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 2012 bottling. Fantastic stuff. Nice warm bourbon aroma. Great balance of bourbon, coffee and chocolate. Not as heavy on the bourbon as some of the others, but this does have some age on it. The coffee held up remarkably well, i thought that would fade out over time.

Re rate with 13 bottle. For some reason, this years batch didnít impress. A little thin, bourbon was a bit light. I guess when I had it the first time I was a bit new to the BA stout scene, and now Iíve had a lot that impress me more.

14 another year and Iím even less impressed. Thin and weak. If this were a shelf 6 pack Iíd put it next to black butte porter. Not worth the hype or price.

this rating is only for this yearís kbs. iíve enjoyed it thoroughly in the past. this year it tasted awful. tons of fusal alcohol cloaked with aspartame and fake coffee flavor. really gross. drain pour.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. This isnít the first time Iíve had this, so Iím surprised to learn that I hadnít rated it. Full bodied with nice hard roast character, leaning more toward coffee with some underlying chocolate, vanilla sweetness offsets the bitterness. The barrel is very subtle here, and the beer benefits from that fact. Superbly balanced and enjoyable. Worthy of the hype.

Flaske> Brunsort klar oel med et fint skumhoved. Lidt tynd taget de hoeje procenter i betragtning. God duft af bourbon og godt integreret smag. Fin oel men ikke wauw paa nogen maade.

12 oz bottle poured into snifter, black hue with creamy to frothy dark tan head, no lacing, smelled more initially like coffee, then to chocolate and vanilla, started at 64 degrees, very well balanced, smooth texture, oak more prevalent as it sat, sticky marshmallow holding vanilla over top of the chocolate, oak vanilla and bourbon, very nice, life up to the hype for the most part, balance and texture were the main characteristics that stood out

Thick black with 3 inch brown head. Roasted malt and coffee aromas with a soft bourbon note. Creamy mouthfeel, coffee and bourbon are balanced. Very good but not the best.

Pours black with a thick creamy tan head that sticks around. Aroma is coffee, molasses, rich roasted malts & nuances of chocolate. Taste is all of the above perfectly blended. Coffee first, slightly bitter malts in the mid, followed by sweet chocolate for the finish. A sweet smooth ride all the way through. A true American experience. Masterful.

On tap at MacGregorís. Great aroma, booze, coffee, chocolate just to name a few. Deep dark pour with a thin tan head. Taste is chocolate, oak, coffee, booze and slight vanilla. Palate is thick, very thick. The booze really stands out here. From the 1st sip cold. I let it sit 45 minutes. Last sip warm, still boozy. A real sipper.

12 oz bottle. Tasted on 4/23/15. Bottle from Byron's Liquor. Aroma was great with chocolate, coffee & a slight bourbon. Taste is so smooth with a similar taste to aroma. Fantastic beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
