COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

The more beer I drink in my life, the rarer it becomes that I come across a beer that makes me go "Wow!" This is one of those beers ... Super dark red, this beer drinks with a bit of paint-thinner-strength. Hoppy on top, but a super rich malt monster with candied caramel underneath. "Wow." (#4464, 2/4/2012).

Pour dark copper brown with big light tan head ridiculous lace. Aroma butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar, pine, resiny hops, toffee, dark fruits, light coffee, boozy hints. Taste chocolate, pine, grapefruit, coffee, toffee, butterscotch, brown sugar, dark fruits. MF medium to full body solid lively carb. Well done brew good taste profile nothing mind blowing however.

A different tasting Barleywine. It’s full of molasses, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, and a small amount of hops. Not something I’m used to when it comes to today’s American Barleywine. A lot of Barleywines are hopped to hell. This one isn’t. The other ingredients really take over making for a sweet and boozy brew.

Black color with light brown head. Sweet malty aroma with alcohol.Incredibly strong and powerful aftertaste too strong of alcohol.

Poured black with a off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, malt, toffee, hops, fruit and coffee in abundance. Full bodied, meaty, chocolate, bourbon-esque heat, malt, hops and coffee. There’s so much going on, it’s so complex. Is it an IPA or is it Barley Wine? I don’t care, it’s incredible. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brown color, probably the darkest iipa i have had (although the bottles says its barleywine). earthy, lot of malt, but then comes a huge amount of hops and long lasting bitterness. Very interesting and i liked it a lot.

Dark brown with a fluffy head that hold well. Slightly soapy coconut aroma. Very thick, very boozy, caramel and sticky malt with a bit of bitterness in the tail.

28/03/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap).
