Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Pours a deep, dark amber with a thick and frothy beige head. Very appealing and complex aroma, with raisin, licorice, plum, apple, caramel, pine, and some chocolate undertones. The fruity aspects stand out most here. The taste, while really not what I was expecting, is very good as well. It is quite roasted. Big on caramel, coffee, chocolate, and pine. I still get the darker fruits underneath these dominant flavors. Contains an impressive hoppy kick that is very much like an IPA. Aftertaste is caramel, coffee, and lots of pine. More of a medium body here with a texture that is sticky. Alcohol content becomes apparent quickly and settles in very nicely. This beer really is something else. It feels like a blend of different styles that are all made up extremely well. Each sip gives a different impression to me. And the transition from the nose to the taste is wonderful. If you want to impress your friends, make them try this one.

Piwo jest niepasteryzowane i niefiltrowane, barwy brązowej, nieprzezroczystej, mętnej, piana sycząca, szybko znikająca do minimalnego krążka. W aromacie suszone owoce, figi, daktyle, lekkie cytrusy, likier karmelowy. Jest też delikatny DMS w postaci gotowanej kukurydzy. W smaku najpierw słodko, kandyzowane owoce, likier z suszonych gruszek.

500 ml bottle, brewed 09.12.13
Dark brown body, with a big, lacing, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma with dominant dried fruits, nuts, citric hops, liquorice, bread.
Taste follows this and adds slight ash and wood.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty, dark fruity, hoppy and ashy.

Really tasty and quaffable! Full and smooth malts, with fruity hops and some nice, sublte ashy notes, that balances the big sweetness. Drinks very smooth, the ABV is well hidden. Great, but still not my favourite beer from this brewery, which is #500.

Bottle, pours copper, hazy with small, but stable beige head. Aroma is sweet, raisin, with bit of citrus hops and touch of alcohol. Medium to high bitterness, surprisingly not much sweetness in here, with some alcohol in background. Full body, sticky feel, soft carbonation, alcohol is warming throat, short bitter finish.

Rich thick hoppy aroma, with a hint of malt. Pours a deep brown with little head. Deep malt flavour with wood and liquorice flavours, as well as a bitter side.

On tap at Hopsters, Warsaw, Poland. Aroma very hoppy, sweet, malty, bready, reisiny. Taste: lot of hops again. Reisin / pine, breadiness. Full body. Texture almost oily. I’ve had a bit more complex barley wines though. Strongly recommended anyway!

Kettle caramelized aroma with notes of bread. Appearance is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Flavor has notes of dark caramel, plums, licorice with slight hints of roast. Being aged, most of the hop aroma and flavor is gone. Mouthfeel is full with medium light carbonation. Overall, it's a good barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
