COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Pours a deep, dark amber with a thick and frothy beige head. Very appealing and complex aroma, with raisin, licorice, plum, apple, caramel, pine, and some chocolate undertones. The fruity aspects stand out most here. The taste, while really not what I was expecting, is very good as well. It is quite roasted. Big on caramel, coffee, chocolate, and pine. I still get the darker fruits underneath these dominant flavors. Contains an impressive hoppy kick that is very much like an IPA. Aftertaste is caramel, coffee, and lots of pine. More of a medium body here with a texture that is sticky. Alcohol content becomes apparent quickly and settles in very nicely. This beer really is something else. It feels like a blend of different styles that are all made up extremely well. Each sip gives a different impression to me. And the transition from the nose to the taste is wonderful. If you want to impress your friends, make them try this one.

Poured in a 22 oz. sinfter. A - Very dark chestnut brown with 1.5 fingers of khaki head that have excellent retention due to the ABV. Sheets of lacing are left behind. S - Toffee, cocoa powder, nutty, then as it warms sweet citrus oil, green pine needles. Berry fruit really comes out full force with some perfumy orange blossom. Slabs of caramel mix with alcohol vapors and fill the glass with a robust sweetness. T - Starts with a mix of semi/sweet chocolate, sweet toffee malt, then an undertow of hops rush in with mint and citrus. The hops almost take over creating an herbal spice that turns resiny and woody while still laced in citrus. Dark berry fruit, leather, and cocoa really comes out and melds with the malt M - Medium creamy and lush body. Solid carbonation. Very complex beer with plenty of transforming flavors during a session. The aroma is so good it’s hard to explain. The cocoa stays in it’s place and adds alot of complexity. Hops shine but don’t overtake it. Very interesting and flavorful beer. Serving type: bottle 12-10-2011

Cola black beer with a huge beige head. Looks delicious! Very fruity and sweet, hoppy aroma of ripe peaches and other more exotic aromas. Body is soft, full and round. Lovely sweetness combined with a grape fruity bitterness. Lots of caramel, raisins, sherry and some roasted coffee. Some warming alcohol as well but is well hidden in the taste. What a great beer even if this is not fresh (brewed 100811 and opened 120513). Truly a master piece and a piece of art!

500 ml bottle Best before 16.8.16 Dark brown with ruby highlights. Head is a thick collar, light brown in color. Lots of spotty lacing with this and thick ABV legs. Hops have held up well. Some nice pine notes with backing strawberry and plum jam notes. Good caramel notes as well. Burnt pine, grapefruit, caramel and jam. Has held up quite well and still holds elements of the DIPA quality. Low carbonation, big feel. Not very sticky or sweet. Lots of pine and hop finish. Workable now, needs more to really be a BW though

Bottle. Blackish brown beer with a strong off white head. The aroma is roasted but not heavily, and the flavour is deeply roasted and bitter with some vinous qualities. Overall a really strong tasting imperial stout like beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The carbonation gives off a nice thin foam head. As for color it is dark brown with sediment floating around. The aroma is of toffee, hops, and carmel malts. The flavor is of bitter hops, molasses, toffee, carmel, and malts. The finish is bitter dry with a sweet after taste to balance things. Overall #100 is a fine drink to knock back.

Bought this bottle at Brewberry in Paris over holidays 2012. Finally opening it May 2013 in Leuven. Just a big malty bomb of a beer. Pours dark brown and pretty much opaque. Holds head great. Sweet molasses aroma with great depth. Flavor is warm and rich and meaty. Actually super bitter as well, which is maybe a bit unexpected from the aroma (not much hop presence there). Strange note of salt or soy sauce to it that could present interesting pairing opportunities. Mouthfeel is sticky and thick as you’d expect.
