4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, USA - FEB 4, 2012
The more beer I drink in my life, the rarer it becomes that I come across a beer that makes me go "Wow!" This is one of those beers ... Super dark red, this beer drinks with a bit of paint-thinner-strength. Hoppy on top, but a super rich malt monster with candied caramel underneath. "Wow." (#4464, 2/4/2012).
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Benzai (2711) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - MAY 29, 2012
50cl bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Very dark brown almost black color with a deep dark red glare coming though. Huge creamy beige colored head that lasts a long time and leaves a fine thick lacing. Smell malts, hops, slightly a hints of roastyness and alcohol. Taste malts, hops, bitter, slightly alcohol. Very nice balance between taste, carbonation and body. Very good beer.

Bottle thx benzai. Dark brown colour with some ruby redness shining through, huge light brown head. Smells hoppy, bitter, fruity, grapefruit, fresh - but not very heavily. Tastes hoppy, bitter, fresh.. Very nice, soft and balanced, but maybe it could use a slightly bigger punch to it. Lovely mouthfeel, great balance, soft carbo and a medium to full body.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 julieimagery (98) - Coconut creek, Florida, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Similar to the Stone barleywine but more expensive, it has more hops than Stone as well but has a nice smooth malty flavor.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bathory (59) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2012
Dark Brown with a light-brown head. A lot of taste from licorice, leaves, coffee, bread, with a long aftertaste. A very good barley wine, happy that they started to sell this one.

Keg at The Rake, 12th May. not my favourite style, OK, prefer a double IPA, too sweet

Enjoyed with Kaetchen and Correl at Beer Rvolution. So malty and smooth. Deep forest fruit with just a hint of warmth. Slight sour finish. Beautiful drink.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 conway (15) - - MAY 2, 2012
Poured pitch black without much head. Very malty and sweet. The hop profile was very muted. Not sure how this would be a Double IPA.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Tide (123) - Espoo, FINLAND - APR 28, 2012
Bottle from Alko. Black color, beige head. Complex taste with raisins, coffee, liquorice, burnt finish. Excellent barley wine.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ComradeK (526) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - APR 26, 2012
500ml bottle. Pours an opaque very deep chestnut, verging on black, with a medium light beige head, which lasts quite well and leaves good lacing. The dominant aroma is toffee and date pudding, with some citrus hops freshness and a touch of caramel to back it up. A treacley dark sweet flavour introduces it, leading into some muted pine and spice hops. A smooth and quite sweet body has some rum and port flavours, which give way to a more savoury finish and a lingering alcoholic warmth. This is quite a pleasant beer - sweet and warming, it would be excellent on a chilly night.
