4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Dark, dark ruby color. Appears black at first. Nice easy pour produces a frickin’ huge head of dense tan foam, which has hellish retention. Will it ever go away? Wow. Impressive for sure, but almost too much. Lacing is nice and sticky.
Big chocolatey malts. A touch of smoke. Light hint of some hop spiciness. Hints of caramel and dark fruits. Big earthiness quality.
A fairly complex nose.
Big flavor of roasted malt. Underlying hint of smokiness, not nearly as much as I expected. Sweetness of vanilla and caramel. Nice earthy quality here, also. Very slight hops bite. Light chocolate and coffee notes. Hints of dark fruits.
Good solid medium boby. Good level of creaminess.
This is an excellent porter, overall. I would drink many of these, and often, if given the opportunity.
Not as smoky as may have been expected, but a very good offering from Stone, nonetheless.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
I don’t know if I got a bad batch or if my taste buds are a little flat today, but i remember this beer being more complex and more smokey the last time I had it. it tastes really bland for a stone beer. the smokiness is muted and it tastes a little watery. it’s still a good beer though with good chocolate and coffee notes

Nice dark amber color, pleasant smell but nothing overwhelming. Taste is more mild and drinkable than I expected. If you’re looking for a Porter this is a good one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle. Pours a deep dark mahogany color with dark ruby highlights around the edges, topped by a super thick and creamy tan head that sustains and leaves excellent lacing. Aroma is roasted, dark malts, some dry cocoa powder, slight char, some leafy, ashy, and dry hop character. Taste is roasted, nearly burnt malts, dry, light cocoa, bitter slightly sweet coffee beans, and herbal hops. The smoke shows up in the finish and is more noticeable as the beer warms. Smooth medium body with moderate carbonation.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours coffee-black w/a persistent tan head. Faint roast aroma, medium-bodied chocolate/coffee palate, ending with a roasty finish. Overall, a great porter at an even greater price.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650mL bottle Enjoy by 11/22/14
Deep, near-opaque, ruby body, holds a small but tight beige head.
Moderately intense aroma; roasted malt, charcoal smokiness, some dark chocolate & citrus hop character.
Medium bodied, smooth creamy body, moderate carbonation.
Roasted character continues on the body - burnt nutty, malty, charcoal, with light charred woody smoke, cocoa & dark chocolate, good measure of grassy, floral, citrus hop. Moderate bitterness, drying on the finish.
Pretty good. Not overly smokey, decently made porter.
