Was a big big fan of this one. Coffee has as strong a presence as any beer I’ve tasted. Rich chocolate as well and a great mouthfeel. Finish is dry, bitter (coffee and hops) and lingers. I split a 12oz bottle and that was the perfect amount.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2012 Pours an intensely dark somewhat viscusy fluid. Head is dark brown with a red tinge. I don’t believe I have seen one this dark, possibly Rogue Shakespeare. Smell is primarily coffee, nutty sweetness with some caramel mixed in there. A big whiff produces some alcohol flavors. Body is medium. Head dissipated quickly. Did notice some delicate smoke flavors in there, which was a nice surprise. Finish is licorice, roasty, and slightly hoppy. Enjoyability 4.5/5

Wake N’ Bake pours just what you see to the right. Black as night. A nice frothy one finger head is poured but quickly disappeared. The aroma isn’t straight up coffee like Depth Charge but it’s more of a mixture of fresh coffee grounds, chocolate, roasted malt, and the slightest hint of alcohol. Great smell and made me want to dive right in.
The taste is just as good. You’re blasted by coffee grounds up front. Raw and strong. That’s followed by the chocolate and in the end you get a nice amount of oats. This brew is not as one dimensional as Depth Charge. There’s more of a balance between all the ingredients that makes this beer stand out. The mouthfeel is good but I found it to be a little bit thin and make a little bit to carbonated but still it doesn’t ruin this awesome beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 keanex (183) - Williamstown, New Jersey, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Poured into an English pint glass from a bottle dated Vintage 2011.
A: Pitch black body with a mean looking thin dark tan head that quickly disappears.
S: Incredibly heavy on the coffee, it’s so overpowering that it’s all you can smell. It’s not bad though, it smells as if I just opened a bag of fresh roasted coffee beans. It smells good, but I would have liked something to balance it out a little.
T: More mellow than the nose indicates, there’s a slight sweetness up front but it’s quickly taken over by a bitter roasty fresh coffee flavor. A bitter semi-sweet finish lingers on the palate for a while.
M: Thick and syrupy with only the slightest hint of carbonation.
O: I understand that this is a coffee stout, but it’s heavier on the coffee than I was expecting. It’s not bad, but the coffee flavor and aroma is very overbearing and I really need to be in the mood for this.

Aroma of strong coffee and slight chocolate. Pours deep black with a small brown head. Taste is nice. Strong coffee, slight bready oatmeal, and a great chocolate cookie aftertaste. Very nice coffee stout.

When God created beer this is what he had in mind. The coffee flavor is subtle and gives way to more chocolatey taste once it settles. The deep color shouldn’t fool you, this beer is not as heavy as it looks. World of beer usually has this in stock.

Pours a deep pitch black with a strong nice coffee aroma. Head is creamy and coffee colored with quick dissipation. Taste is full of chocolate, malt and coffee, quite pleasant, with some mild hints of vanilla. Finish is medium, with a slight taste of alcohol. May try it with breakfast. Excellent Imperial Stout. Quaff Score ( drinkability especially with hearty enjoyment ) 8 / 10

Pours a pitch black with a disappearing chocolate head and aroma of strong coffee notes. Taste is big on coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts as well as sweet with a moderately long finish. Great stout with strong coffee notes throughout.
