Wonderful beer. Pours beautiful, thick, black, with a caramel colored head that flows over the glass like syrup. Very well balanced with a great mouth feel. Velvet smooth dark chocolate, caramel, a great deal of coffee. Its like a decadent desert. Delicious.

Was excited when I found this at my local crown and wine as a single. I am a fan of a nice stout. Popped the cap open smelled great but was unpleasant to the taste buds. I thought I would enjoy the coffee/stout mix but boy was I wrong. Could not finish the bottle. I will stick to having my coffee and stout separately.

12 oz. bottle from Dave Schiller. Pour is midnight black, somewhat thick, with moderate tan head. Glass must be swirled to retain head. Aroma is amazing fresh coffee and roasted malt. Some caramel, molasses and a bit nutty as the ale warms. Taste is silky smooth coffee, some chocolate, caramel and roasted malt. Nice mouth feel. The finish leaves you with a dark stained tasting glass and a smooth coffee after taste. Very nice ale. Well done.

Trade extra from smith4498. Pours a jet black with a dark brown head. Aromas of roasted gourmet coffee, chocolate, slight whiff of alcohol. Taste follows suit, extremely coffee forward with tons of roast with addition of bittering hops. Mouthfeel is slick while at the same time chewy and nourishing. Alcohol stays well hidden in the taste. An extremely well executed imperial stout. This stuff is yummy! Thanks Jason!

12oz bottle, enjoyed the way it was designed to be enjoyed. Thanks to Jay for this one. Pours a beautiful thick black color. Minimal brown head. Some bubbles on the side of the glass. Decent bit of lace. Nice big body, dry texture. Very chewy, very light carbonation. Great satisfying hearty and oaty coffee aroma. Good bittersweet taste. Satisfying breakfast stout. Wish I could get Terrapin here in Cincinnati. Nice to enjoy with a grilled cheese sandwich.

Originally reviewed: 2/3/09. This pours so incredibly thick and black. I think, for this reason, there is absolutely no head or lacing. There’s not even a thin sheet on top. Pure motor oil. Smells of the woods, walnuts, alcohol, figs, cocoa, and just the slightest of coffee scents. This brew goes down like velvet. Smooth and creamy as all get out. Perfect for an Imp. Stout. I almost feel like I have to chew this one. Spot on. The alcohol presence is very noticeable in this one. Nowhere to hide. I taste some chocolate, raisins, and a hint of tartness. I really don’t taste the coffee, and hardly smelled it. This is good, but I’ve had better Imp. Stouts. Still, recommend.

Dark black in color, clear with a thin tan head. Big roasty coffee aroma and nice malt backing. Lots of coffee and chocolate flavors. Nice big dark silky smooth brew. Love this beer.

12oz bottle 2011 pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma of bitter coffee and chocolate with oatmeal. Smooth slick creamy texture. Taste is in line with the aroma with licorice, well balanced and very drinkable.

Nice dark brown almost black pour. Nice tan head that lingers a bit. Nose brings coffee and dark roastiness. Nice full body. Taste brings coffee and chocolate notes. Very good imperial stout. Mix it with moo hoo for an extra treat
