4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 brew3crew (77) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Hand bottled by one of my favorite S.D. BAs. Nice piney smell that sticks in your nose. Taste follows and it is quite good, but nothing that separates it from the pack really.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 HughConway (533) - Washington, USA - FEB 8, 2012
smooth, balanced, hop nose, hop taste, bit too much alcohol on the tongue. Really good beer, don’t get the hype.

I waited over 4 and a half hours on Pliny Day for this and it was worth it! Very smooth and balanced. The hop presence hits you in the face from the second its placed in front of you. By far the best beer I have ever had.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeerBoxer (184) - Sacramento, USA - FEB 6, 2012
On tap at Pliny the younger day at russian river. Pours gold with a off white head. Aroma is piney and floral. Flavor is very piney and hopped up! Finishes a bit dry and fires off a little heat.

Was fortunate enough to be on hand for the 2012 release on 2/3. (first in line actually) Short review, so much has been said about this beer and the one thing that continues over and over in my hear is the realization that this triple IPA, with 10.70 ABV, goes down smoother and lighter than most standard, American IPAs that I’ve had. If you’re able to, I would suggest putting this beer on your bucket list.... a more "professional" set of tasting notes will follow later......
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 HighWine (397) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Tap on Day 2 of the 2012 release at the brewery. Honey golden pour with a minimal white head that remains a thing ring around the glass. Negligible lacing. Just a few tiny bubbles in the glass. Aroma of grassy hops and grapefruit rind. Huge hoppiness flavor. I was told by staff that this years batch is hoppier than previous. Warm and hoppy in the mouth, there’s no other way to describe it. Not the syrupy, full mouthed texture I was expecting but a legendary hop bomb. I’m side-by- side tasting it with Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder and it makes both of those beers seem small.

Consumed at release party 2/3/12. Terrific IPA, no doubt, but I prefer the Elder.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 deekyn (135) - Yosemite, California, USA - FEB 3, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2012 From RR on tap on Pliny Day.
A - pours clear golden orange no head. Strong lacing.
S - pine and citrus hops on the front. Pineapple, lemon, passion fruit notes, hints of apricot.
M - strong bodied beer, high carb, lingering dry bitter hops finish.
T - piney resin hops on the nose, strong fruity, citrus (lemon grapefruit) tropical fruit, and a nice spice on the palate. Becomes more malty as it warms up. Lingering dry hoppy bitter ending.
O - a really great ipa, my favorite ipa of any kind. 3 hour wait in line, fun experience.
