4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Froma 355ml bottle on 26/4/2012. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a small head. Has an amazingly strong floral, fruity (particularly orange), piny aroma against a deep caramel malt background. The massive grapefruity, resiny hops will be what really blows your hair back, but this is wonderfully complemented by an array of other sweet fruits (orange, apricot, peach and lemon), caramel, toffee, honey and marmalade. The texture is a quite sticky, the bitterness dial is turned up to 10 and seems to last forever. This is a huge, magnificent brew with truly explosive flavour . Probably the finest IPA I’ve had to date.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Excellent beer with the hoppy taste I desire. Although expensive, worth it. Will be rating their ’Green Flash’ soon.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A fairly classic IPA. In a glass, has a thin white head with an orange-amber hue. Has a nice citrus based profile with the typical pine and lighter floral notes from a western IPA. The bitterness is apparent, but in no way over the top while the body is medium with a moderate amount of carbonation. Finishes with a consistent amount of bitterness, lasting aromas, and not particularly dry.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Pour is a hazy golden copper with an off white head. Great nose of pine, grapefruit and resiny hops. Taste is very balanced, sweet malt with spicy, piney and bitter hops with floral hop notes throughout. Very smooth bitterness and finishes fairly clean. Really good stuff.

Bottle from Lazy Dog. Pours a bright hazy amber with a minimal layer of off white head. Aroma of hops and hints of grapefruit. Taste of upfront bitter that lingers.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer pours copper with a off white head. The aroma is balanced with the west coast hop aroma that is expected citrus, pine and grapefruits. This is balanced by some malty sweetness.
Tasting this has the hoppy bitterness you would expect, but its not overpowering. Overall its a nice IPA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From bottle, pours cloudy orange, short white head lasts a good while. Aroma was muted but citrus. Nice malt caramel balanced flavor. A little pricey in our neck of the woods.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Almost brilliant coppery amber colour. Massive cauliflower bubbly head. Aroma is balanced and fresh pine resin, not too overpowering. Taste is deep bitter and malty resin, upfront, none of that poncy grapefruitiness and citrus. Pine and resin. But in a balanced way, not in-your-face.

Backlog. Similar to it’s name, this is just one of the many other good west-coast ipas i’ve come across, not enough to make a lasting impression though.
