4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1 pint 0.9oz bottle into a Weizen Glass. The abv is listed on the label at 5.3% and there is no freshness date.
Appearance: It has a deep hazy orange amber body with visible carbonation. A quick pour fills the glass with foam. After a minute to settle I very slowly finished pouring and ended up with a nice three finger head. The light beige head hangs on well and makes lots of cool lace patterns on the glass.
Smell: Big German yeast notes rush up to fill my nose. The aroma is all about the classic banana notes with some mild clove and bready sweet malt.
Taste: The best way to describe this beer is that is like banana bread with nuts and chocolate chips. The palate is a firm medium body with nice active carbonation.
Notes: Outstanding!!! This beer is a work of wheat beer art.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the most delicious dunkles weissbier I have so far been drinking. Very pleasant yeast flavor and refreshing bitter with the characteristic flavors of banana and brown sugar.

Pours mahogany with big beige head, that slowly dissapates leaving a small half-finger film. Aroma is BOLD over-ripe banana, bread, yeast, clove. Standard fare but loud. Really enticing.
Medium body, fairly creamy a little dry in the finish. Over-ripe banana replicated in the taste. A little clove and caramel-malt, but nothing eccentric. Heavy drinking but a delicious ’meal’. Almost as good as it gets for Dunkels/hefes.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours 2" off white head which dissipates quickly leaving low/moderate lacing. Liquid is hazy amber-brown. Gentle aroma of grains. Well balanced taste but all subdued with clean finish with mildly bitter and bready yeast aftertaste. Good drinkability and overall a very enjoyable example of a dark weissbier.

Look: Pours with large, very thick, billowy, off-white (yellow hue) head. It has a beautiful, slow retention that leaves medium sized, creamy, thick layer on the top. It stays till the end and leaves fair amount of lacing. Colour is cloudy, creamy toffee, caramel, like milk chocolate sundae shake - delicious. Also lots of active carbonation, lots of bubbly chains.
Smell: Clove and banana classic. Bit peppery, fresh sweet peeled apples, red earth. Grain, wheat, hay with light darker malt sweetness, hints of caramel and milk chocolate most obvious.
Taste: Clove and banana with some spice lead the way; also yeasty character gets some ground. Dry apples, light sour. Medium sweet middle, mostly grain/wheat - light caramel sweetness doesn’t come out until in the aftertaste. Good balance of clove, banana and pepper play in the after - wouldn’t expect anything different from Weinhenstephan. Some light noble hops at the end too.
Mouthfeel: Light crisp start, this lively carbonation suits it well. Smooth and creamy medium light heavy body.
Overall: Not that different from the classical hefeweissbier, superb yet relatively simple play of the classical banana clove formation, that looks and feel good. Expected a bit more contribution from the darker malts tho.

Shared a 50cl bottle from Ruppert (Luxembourg). Pours a hazy light brown colour with a tan fluffy head. Aroma is banana, clove, yeast and light chewing gum. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is well balanced between bitter and sweet with a sweet finish. Overall, a very drinkable beer. Good!

Simply a good dunkel beer. Lots of sweet in the nose, fruity taste, but not a very long finish. A good beer to start an evening of with. .
