Deep, cloudy burgundy pour with flecks of yeast and sediment bouncing around the glass. Aroma: huge, complex set of aromas. Caramel, redcurrant, oak, vinous, hops, malt, banana and apple. Taste: slightly dry with a decent alcohol warmth. Toffee, hops, creamy malt, banana, apple, red grapes. Superb

Thanks to Steve for the bottle. Pours a deep brown with a thick creamy off white head. The aroma is all carmelized sugar and Belgian yeast. Medium body with big carbonation, dark fruit, carmelized sugar and Belgian yeast notes in the taste. Finished clean and tasty. Very good.

Tasted from bottle. Tasted head to head with Westy 12. Pours a dark brown with off white head identical to Westy 12. Aroma is not near as strong but similar. Notes of dark fruits, caramel, maple syrup, toffee. Mouthfeel is a little thinner than Westy 12 but still chewy and sticky. Flavors of brown sugar, maple syrup, figs, plums, raisins, caramel, toffee. Overall excellent for being the little brother to 12. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At In de Vrede. A beautiful hue - burgundy? Frothy lasting beige head. Delicately sweet, tantalizing aroma: dates, figs, brown sugar, Caramel. Flavor follows and brings a moderate earthy bitterness that lasts through the semi dry finish. Not overcarbonated. Excellent.

Very sweet, lighter than expected. Very light, delicate and sweet Aroma. Having a hard time being more specific than that. Very unique and enjoyable.

33 cl bottle at de Vrede, Westvleteren. I bought six more bottles in order to age them, so this review might change over time. First of all, let me say this is a nice one, but 100? I felt disappointed, given the expectations were high, and loving the Westvleteren 12. Ok, here’s the review: pours dark brown with reddish shades. Tan head. Aroma is not particularly high, rather low: honey, violets, dates, prunes, tomato, soy sauce. Mouth is fizzy, medium-bodied, not sweet at all. A little thin. Finish isn’t bitter, but it does linger. Let’s see within a few years.

Dark brown colour. Modest white head. Plums, dark fruits, caranel, barley, hints of coffee in the aroma. Caramel, dark fruits, hints of barley st first. Plums, hints of berries in the middle. Hints of coffee. Toffee in the end. Quite well balanced, very well drinkable beer. However, it is nothing surprising. Very good, but still a beer from our galaxy.

Brown ale with a thick head. Dark fruit, figs, and dried plum in aroma. Full bodied with fine carbon and thick texture. Taste is weet. The finish covers cinnamon and matured sweet fruits. D@BreweryPub (too cold)

Una cerveza excelenta que me pareció toda una joya. Notas en donde destacan las maltas obscuras y frutos secos, ligeramente se perciben los sabores característicos de las levaduras belgas y al retrogusto unas notas deliciosas a caramelo y azucar.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 Bottle 33cl. Deep dark brown with a huge fluffy off white head. Aroma of malts, wood and brown sugar. The taste is mildly bitter with sweet undertones. The taste slowly develops into a more bitter affair but changes long after every sip. Touches of grain, sugar, chocolate are all present. The carbonation is always present at the tongue.
