Cask draught. Pours a near black color with a moderate tan head. Nose has some amazing cocoa notes to it, with some roasting and chocolate coming through in the taste. Super smooth.

22oz bottle from Connecticut Ave pours a murky black with some thin, tan head. Nose is quite meaty, some BBQ sauce, molasses, licorice, malt, toast, some dark chocolate. Flavor follows right along, molasses, roast, a little mushroom, toast, licorice, burnt caramel, light smoke. Full, meaty finish. A nice, chewy stout.

It pours black, lively carbonation and a dark brown head. There area aromas of roasted malts, chocoalte, and a bit of wood. The roasted malt flavors are dominate which gives it a smokey quality to it. There is a bit of chocolate with a bit of wood as well. It has a moderately bitter finish.

22 oz bottle poured an opaque, black body. FLAVOR: Average intensity for style. Ample dark roasted malts with minimal smokiness and moderate. Some light burnt toast in the aftertaste. Lightly bitter. Good balance. Feel: full, creamy smpoth body; light carbonation.

Reviewed from notes. Thanks to Rick for bringing this one back from your NC trip. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing stuck and then slid. The smell had a graceful blend of roasty to sweet coffee to dark chocolate with a light robust milk chocolate insisting upon my nose. The taste was mainly roasty and robust sweet chocolate and coffee. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a semi - sessionable quality about it. The carbonation was appropriately styled and was good for me. Overall, Rick please go back and get more of this stellar beer.

Beer 53 Asheville trip, sadly, the last brew of the trip. Poured black. Aroma chocolate and espresso. Flavor was a match, roasty and chocolatey. Medium bodied. Just a very enjoyable stout. Good way to wrap things up. Great roadie with the spouse. Got to do this again sometime in the future, still have a ton of places to visit down this way that we didn’t have time or liver to accomplish on this trip.
