4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Berley31 (230) - - NOV 30, 2009
A: Poured on tap at Novare Res Bier Cafe. Large, white frothy head that slowly dissipated to 1-finger. Body is an almost rusty-orange color, and cloudy.
S: Very nice aroma of wheat, yeast, and citrus fruit. Nothing in the aroma is overpowering, yet still present enough to be present with every sip.
T: This is a great-tasting hefeweizen... smooth and refreshing with yeast and wheat, and lots of orange. Some spices are present (especially pepper). Excellent!
M: Medium-bodied and creamy, with average carbonation.
D: I think maybe the best hefeweizen I’ve ever had. I could drink it all night.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sigmund (3712) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAY 30, 2012
500 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Hazy golden colour, huge white head. Strong aroma of ripe bananas and banana-flavoured candy / bubble gum, also notes of cloves. Refreshing flavour, some sweetness but not too much, notes of banana, citrus and cloves. In other words: a typical well made Hefe-Weissbier, which is good enough for me, as I love this beer style, esp. in summer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 tfredvik (376) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 28, 2012
Cloudy orange body with a large, egg-white head that is short-lived and doesn’t leave much lacing. Lovely strong, sweet and quite yeasty aroma with ripe sweet fruits, especially banana, spices and floral notes. Also dusty hints after the last yeasty drops have been poured into the glass. Moderate sweet taste with a nice acidity lasting into the light bitter finish. The flavours are also rather strong, I get banana, yeast, spices, lime, pear and flowers. There are some faint but rather strange hints of boiled eggs in the finish, but it doesn’t ruin the experience. Very nice on the palate with a close to medium body, crisp dry texture that never gives a mouthfeel dryer than pleasantly light dry and the carbonation is medium (and not overly fizzy). Crisp and nice beer, with refreshing limey acidity in addition to all the sweet banana.
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed 5 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet online]
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bibendum (49) - ITALY - MAY 26, 2012
Classica Weizen, color miele con schiuma di media persistenza. All’olfatto mostra note floreali e in bocca compaiono lievi note di banana. Di medio corpo e con un lieve retrogusto amaro. Da riprovare ma non colpisce.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wimpyjoe (445) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - MAY 24, 2012
A Bavarian wheat that actually has an aftertaste like Belgian brewing styles.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 maekchu (167) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 24, 2012
500ml can. Very pronounced banana aroma, with some sweet malt. Honey color, cloudy, with a strange thin straight line of foam bisecting the surface. Mild sweetness, and then fades quickly. A bit too fizzy and sharp on the tongue. Also somewhat sticky. But, all in all, not a bad beer for early summer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheCametron (800) - SCOTLAND - MAY 16, 2012
Bottle. Cloudy orange yellow with a thick, white head. Aroma of typical banana, clove with a strongly defined peppery yeast edge. Flavour again, has a palpable spicy yeast to it alongside banana sweetness. Dry and slightly bitter finish.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
Brown 0.5 litre bottle, best before 07-2008, drank 12-2007.
Poured into one of my Franziskaner Weissbier glasses.
This is a hazy one, all Hefeweizen are hazy, but this one is real hazy. The huge white head sits atop this busy bubbley highly carbonated beer and stays.
It may be the haze king but its aroma is small fry compared to others. There is some vanilla and banana, but very little in comparison with most other hefeweizen.
All the right flavours are here, but it appears lightwieght in everything about it. The mouthfeel is weak, the flavours don’t linger and the aftertaste isn’t correct.
Not overly impressed with this beer, I have had many better Hefeweizen and I’ll not be having another of these.

" Hefe-Wezen must be drank from a glass-never from the bottle"
Oh well that’s me told..lucky it is in a glass!
Darker than usual for a hefe.light copper murky beer, with a lovelly thick ,creamy white head.
Very tangy aromas..indeed.Aromas of wheat bread, nuts and pepper. Nice.
Taste is very much on the malt driven side. Some phenolics but mainlly staunch dark grain wheat bread..a touch of passion fruit and banana blended.
Very nice on the mouthfeel..thick and smooth.
An unusual and welcome take on the trad Bavarian hefe..enjoyed this
