COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Color is red, hazy, semi-transparent. Aroma: dried figs, dried apricots, roasted notes, alcohol. Taste: moderate sweeteness, low to moderate alcohol bitterness, light sourness. Flavour: dried fruits, candied fruits, rotten fruits, fusel. Some alcohol and roasted bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall this is good but slighlty unbalanced with odd alcohol notes.

Nice sweet beer with a hint of bitter aftertaste. The sweetness masks the strength of 7 apv.

Pours a murky Amber brown with a white head that fades quickly. Taste Sweet apricot, with some caramel and hint of biscuity malts. Sweet by not overpowering.

Pours a rich coppery red, slightly hazy with nice head which doesn’t last too long. Aroma is caramel, bready yeast, apricots, dried fruit and slightly herbal. Nice smooth taste lightly balanced sweetness, not too bitter and dry. Complex and good beer, noticeable soft carbonation yet also a bit creamy.

A classic. Reddish brown in colour with a tiny bit of clarity. Not very sweet but only a hint of bitterness.

There’s only one thing to say about Chimay Red cap: awesome. Right out of the bottle it smells amazing, the color, a dark red calls the first drink. Great taste in the mouth and just a little feel of the alcohol at the end. We can feel the sweet taste of fruits and caramel.
