4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 matthewjk (549) - Cincinnati, USA - NOV 8, 2011
Is this good?!? Hmmm....you better believe it! The aroma alone is singularly exceptional. Sensational texture! The malts with the whiskey undertones is killer. I’m a big fan of the original gonzo and I don’t know if i’ve rated this higher, but this is worth the premium price. Damn this is good!!!!
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 GTAEgeek (516) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 30, 2012
On tap at the Corner Cafe. Pours dark brown with a thin, tan head. The aroma is chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and faint oak. The flavor is very sweet and malty. The palate is medium, lively, and sticky. Overall, this is a mild and sweet porter, with a subtle aroma.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 fluffy (597) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - MAY 28, 2012
i dont usually go in for the imperial style beers, but seeing it on tap at a local beer place, i had to give it a whirl. it mildly smoky, has the leather and tobacco-ness you would expect, but surprisingly the alcohol is kept in check and its not that heavy. as it warms it becomes a little more whiskey-like though. a neat beer but i dont think i could handle more than one.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beernbourbon (997) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Bottle from the back of the cellar. Circa 2007/2008 I think. Cork comes off with a reassuring pop. Pour is nearly black with an enormous brown head. Aroma is loaded with milk chocolate, dark fruit, faint vanilla, light tart notes, tobacco, and a touch of holiday spice. Very little oxidation to speak of. Flavor is very smooth with loads of milk chocolate, light roasted malt notes, a touch of dark fruit, and some vanilla in the finish. Really impressed with how well this held up. Nothing like it tasted fresh and nothing like regular Gonzo.

35 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a small mocha head that slowly fades leaving a little lacing. Aroma is vinous, oak, chocolate and dark fruits. Taste is booze, dark fruits and chocolate with some warming alcohol in the finish.

Bottle. Poured a thick black, think tan head. Aroma of booze, chocolate, heavy fruit, some spice and coffee. Taste is very complex, aromas with vanilla, oak, whiskey and roasted malt. Awesome take of FD’s Imperial Porter, also a favorite.

Bottle @ SF. Dark brown with medium mocha head. Smells kind of funky, sweet, and vinous. Taste files. Kind of tastes like a corked red wine. Plus bitter. Bitter finish and fairly light bodied.
