Very much like the Aventinus, sweet, not overcloyingly so. Nice and smooth. Dark.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very deep dark Brown color, almost black, with a tanned head that goes away quickly. Very strong aromas of liquorice, chocolate and caramel. Body is oily and flavor is very, very sweet, sticky and lasting. Very long end for a very well carbonated beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of my favorites, especially when over 12 years (in 0,75 bottles). Sugar has turned into alcohol and the taste is very woody (like aged port-wines).

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 330 ml. Pours dark brown/black with virtually no head - only a thin sheen of off-white. Lacing is thick and immediate. Molasses, liquorice, caramel, spice and smoke dominate the nose, joined by a hefty blast of alcohol. Slightly nutty and wooden around the edges, perhaps a little earth too. Bread and cheesy yeast can be briefly determined under the booze on occasion. Potent stuff. Very sweet taste-wise; getting mostly honey, caramel, muscavado sugar, perhaps tinges of cinnamon and vanilla. Dark fruits emerge with time. Slightly medicinal as well, probably thanks to the alcohol, which remains prominent long after the finish with a significant neck burn. Not unpleasant though. Aforementioned finish is long and sticky. Thick, oily and smooth on the palate as expected, with slight carbonation.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
[33cl thanks to ruigo] Dark brown color. Medium beige head, that kept a small lace till the end. Medium to low carbonation and a round body, oily texture. Aroma is caramel and raisins. Taste is licorice, chocolate, caramel, too much sweet, artificial and some presence of the alcohol. Aftertaste is very long and sweet. In my opinion is too much sweet, even for winter, and too much overrated.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 4/16/2007. Pours clear dark reddish brown color with a small fairly dense khaki head with poor retention, that reduces to nothing fairly quickly. No glass lacing and some slight streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, molasses, light chocolate, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown sugar, light chocolate, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown sugar, light chocolate, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian Quadrupel style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20

Litet krämigt stout Guinnes huve(vit krona). Annars brunsvart i färg. Belgisk, jäst, dadlar & plommon i doft samt bränd kandisocker. Smaken är Söt, kanderad socker(får mig att tänka på marknader), kavring & Belgo jäst.mycket bra!
