22oz bottle, bottled 12/14/11. Thin light brown head, fades to minimal. Dark brown / black color. Good lace. Big body, light carbonation. Good, enjoyable texture. Great roasty bitter taste, light sweetness. Nice dark chocolate, roasty and light coffee aromas. Really, a great imperial stout. Great to enjoy with a grilled bacon, pepperoni, onion and smoked gouda sandwich... and probably also with any food at all

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluejacket74 (716) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - JAN 21, 2012
22 ounce waxed topped bottle, bottled on date of 12/14/11. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stays around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like bittersweet and milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a little bit of berries. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like bittersweet and milk chocolate, roasted and burnt/charred malt, coffee, and some hops. There’s a lingering roasty bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and coating, and it’s also well carbonated. It’s a decent enough brew, but I don’t think it stands out compared to other imperial stouts. With that being said, I still think it’s worth trying. $6.99 a bottle.

Draught at the brewpub Black color, brown creamy head. The aroma shows some coffee, cardboard, fish. Good body strength, the mouthfeel is smooth enough, it has a strong roasted malt flavor, luckily with also a small sweetness to make it more drinkable, correct bitterness. The roasted malt leads in the final. Good.
