Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Pours a chestnut color with a smaller, slow collecting pine white head. Smells of rich fruits and grains, with a sticky molasses and toast tint. Tastes of lightly of honey oat bread, dark fruits and nuts. Has a weak start, but continues through to a full, doughy mouth. Finishes rich and doughy.

Belle robe couleur noisette. La mousse apparaît facilement et tient bien. Arômes de malt dominants. Saveur plutôt douce. Assez longue en bouche. Arrière goût de miel et de prunes. Une très bonne trappiste.

brown in colour, few foam, malt and caramel aroma with hint of plum, slightly overcarbonated, bubblegum-like mouthfeel, some sweetness followed by a tart bitterness with a synthetic malty finish

Pours a very dark red with a large light brown head. Sweet malty aromas, caramel, berries, maybe a bit of apple, smells very rich. Thick texture with an average amount of carbonation, a little sticky and has a nice bitter finish. Has a slightly sweet honey taste, some raisin and berries and a very nice warming alcohol flavor. My first of hopefully more Trappist style beers.

Strong dark beer with warming alcohol which does not disturb its flavour. The taste is complex, spicy and persistent.

Great beer. I had it a number of times and it was always great. Very nice aroma of caramel and dark fruits, and similar in taste with a little warmth of alcohol which is very well hidden. Very tasty, very drinkable. A touch of beauty, art and greatness in the glass.

Pours a deep Amber color, aroma is malt, lots of dark fruit, sugar, hint of alcohol, spice - almost like all spice? - taste definitely malt and dark fruit, hint of alcohol, creamy and smooth. Pretty damn good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
