COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

330 ml bottle. Good artwork. Pours cloudy yellow with medium white head. Wheat aroma with notes of lemon. The taste is amazing! A bit roasty, caramelly, lemony, and just the right amount of sweetness. The 8.4% vol are not detectible at all!

Pours cludy yellow with a massive fluffy white head. Aroma is bananas and cloves as is common with Belgian yeast with biscuits and porridge scents. A nice crisp beer, vanilla and banana flavours to the front with a strong bitterness and a lively carbonation.

75cl bottle. Malty aroma with some clovers, grassy. Thick taste, sweet, some nicely noticeable but low bitterness. Still, something is not quite right for me, feels like a blend.

Prezentacja: jasnozłote, zmętnione, piana obfita, drobna, trwała, piękna koronka;
Aromat: silny pomarańczowy, kolendra, banany, goździki;
Odczucie: ciało średnie do wysokiego, wysoko nasycone, ale gładkie, nie czuć alkoholu;
Smak: pomarańcze, przejrzałe banany i jakiś dziwny jakby słodki drewniany, dębowy posmak przechodzący w landrynki;
Ogólnie: niezwykłe piwo.

Un nez minéral, frais et plein de grains. En bouche, c'est très bien balancé, petit goût de banane, sucré à souhait. Une finale douce, fruité et soyeuse. Vraiment bon ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap tonight at the distributor showdown at Cask and Vine. Dark golden color big white head. Rich bready fruity maltiness with some peppery clove phenols to balance. Nice tripel.

Pours a golden color, fairly clear, topped with lots of white frothy head that slowly settles down. Malty aroma, wheaty and fruity notes. Mildly yeasty. Taste sweet and malty, yeasty with some fruity notes. Mild bitterness. Not a fan of this style, so a bit biased review, but not bad.

Poured from a 750ml corked bottle given to me by a coworker into a Duvel tulip. Bottle popped with a nice satisfying burst and an immediate aroma of earthy hops. Poured a bright pale gold with a thick, fine bubbled, 2 inch, pure white head. Head dissipated into a thin foam within a couple of minutes. Nice lacing on the glass. Beer was slightly cloudy in the glass with a strong, never ending stream of bubbles eminating from the bottom, center of the glass. Very nice. As soon as the bottle was opened, there was a strong, earthy hop aroma. After pouring into the glass this was amplified even more. Although a very appealing aroma, it is rather one dimensional. I don’t detect much of anything else. No malt, and only the slightest of Belgian funk. Nice, but not as complex as I was hoping for. Taste follows the aroma. Dominated with hop bitterness, but some malt sweetness, some fruitiness and a touch of funk comes through. At 8.4%, the alcohol is hidden very well. This is a very drinkable beer. I tend to think of this as a Belgian IPA. Hops forward with some character to back it up. Mouthfeel is solid. Rich and full with lots of prickly carbonation felt on the center and back of the tongue. Very nice. To me, this is a highly drinkable Belgian tripel. Usually, I have a difficult time with this style, but this beer - I could have a couple with no problem. The alcohol is hidden well and the flavors balance nicely with nothing overpowering. Overall, a very good beer. I will have to look for this one again.

33cl pour from chilled bottle into stemmed beer tulip at Verde 1080 in Vienna. Pours golden and hazy with a big fizzy head with pretty good retention. Nose is sweet--candy sugar, a bit of biscuit, a nice light malty scent. Body is medium, fizzy. Not bad. Taste is great. Sweet, but not overwhelmingly. Delicious breadiness, with a hint of citrus and a whisper of bitterness on the end. Layers of maltiness and breadiness. Delicious. Better as it warms.
