Beer Geek pours black. Pitch black. A huge tan crater filled head is poured. Great retention and lacing. Now for some reason I thought I was going to be blasted with coffee in the nose but I didn’t not that I was disappointed by that I didn’t but I would of figured since it was called Beer Geek Breakfast that more coffee would be in there. Usually my kind of breakfast is a nice latte from Starbucks =) Instead I think the star of the aroma is another breakfast treat. Oats. Nice oatmeal like aroma. Backed up by espresso, roasted malt, and a tiny bit of a grassy hop aroma.
Taste is basically the same but things seem a bit more balanced. The coffee and roasted malt notes I got from the smell definitely match up nice with the oats. It’s more 50/50. The taste is slightly bitter from the coffee and slightly dry from the hops. I could drink this stuff everyday for breakfast =) Mouthfeel is medium bodied, silky, and goes down smooth.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 DanielBrown (2582) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Opaque black, brown head. Smells very roasty, mocha-like. Mouthfeel is unbelievably smooth, oily, rich and thick. The flavour of rich coffee is powerful, controlled and consistent from front of tongue to back of throat. Can’t tell it’s 7.5%. Really extremely good.

Poured a nice black color with a tan frothy head that laced the glass. Has a nice smooth roasted flavor as well as hints of coffee.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mnoud (25) - Martinsburg, West Virginia, USA - JAN 21, 2012
1 pint .9 fl oz bottle in Guinness pint glass. Pours as dark as an ex-spouse’s soul. Moderately active reddish head dissipates quickly, some lacing remains. Aroma is as expected for style. Taste is very good and smooth. Little carbonation or alcohol evident. Pretty yummy, one of the few oatmeal stouts I have tried that can rival Samuel Smith.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Mortlach (342) - Rome, ITALY - JAN 20, 2012
20/05/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera densa, impenetrabile, lieve schiuma color cappuccino, poco persistente.

From bottle. Colours is black, fantastic brown/tan 2-3 fingerbreadth head which lasts long. Aroma is coffee, mokka and malt. Taste: Sweet malty, dark chocolate, roasted tones and coffee. Smooth and easy to drink, but with a bitter aftertaste. Medium-full bodied. Great beer!

Poured close to black with a pinky thick mocha/Carmel color head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a hint of sweet oatmeal. Flavor earthy, roasted coffee is very prevalent, in a good way. Toasted malts and chocolate undertones, this one is close to the top of my list.
