4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 DanielBrown (2718) - Birmingham (via Leicester), - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Opaque black, brown head. Smells very roasty, mocha-like. Mouthfeel is unbelievably smooth, oily, rich and thick. The flavour of rich coffee is powerful, controlled and consistent from front of tongue to back of throat. Can’t tell it’s 7.5%. Really extremely good.

Wow, I understand why he called it breakfast stout. Aroma of dark coffee, pine, roast and some chocolate. Quite dry palate, but that suits the beer excellent. Very rich on flavours, and you can find a new flavour from each taste. That’s a quality that only the best beers got!

Poured into a ccb glass. No head, dark black, thin ring around the glass. Light coffee aroma, some malts and a small hop aroma. Taste follows the nose, really smooth finishes with a smokey coffee aroma. Medium body, high carbonation. Not the best coffee stout but not bad.

Pour pitch black, with a small brown fizzy head, that quickly diminishes.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate, oatmeal. The aftertaste, is where it really comes to power. Everything just seems so clear. definitely some hops in here as well.
Taste is quite bitter, from all of the coffee and bitter chocolate, with just faint hints of vanilla and brown surgery - sweetness.
Medium bodied, with a slight fizzy carb.

Poured into a goblet. Pitch black with an awesome half finger of tan head.
Wow. Huge, rich smell. Molasses in my nose, less black coffee and burnt malt.
In order: cafe con leche, dark chocolate, bitter coffee and burnt malt at the end that bites the edges of the tongue.
Super smooth, but it still has lots of carbonation. Creamy and milky in the end.
Easy drinking and smooth at the beginning and moves to a more aggressive bitter coffee type of profile. It is well balanced and the best coffee stout I have had.
