COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; pours dark brown beige frothy head spicy and fruity aroma, complex taste with dried fruits, spice level of bitterness is spot on. Struggling to articulate how good this beer is, I’m not big on superlatives but this beer is stupendous.

Clear dark brown with ruby-red tints, a fine off-white head. Lovey malt aroma with fruit (plums), lightly spicy, yeast. The flavour is sweet, malt and caramel, fruits, spices, very little bitterness. Beautiful and a fine younger brother to one of my all-time favourites.

Rusty brown color during the pour. Recommend to drink in a tulip glass which allows the beer to open up. Enjoyed but prefer #10!

Nice taste, chocolate and a bit of fruits, lasts long. Aroma not noticable yet due to low temperature. Nice brownish colour with a small whitebrown head. Overall a nice trappist.

Tulip. Very dark hazy brown with orange around the edge of the glass. Thick marshmallowy head that dissipates reasonably quickly. Smell is fresh hops, yeast, dried spice. Rich fruit, raisin, plums, figs, caramel, cracker/bread, honey, berry, hops. Crisp flavor that keeps developing in your mouth. Good body but overwhelmingly fizzy.
