Black with an enormous head. roasted malts, light coffee, burnt malt, light vegetation, and some bourbon notes in the aroma. The carbonation is a little harsh for the style, I think. Malty, roasted, a touch of wood, some bourbon, and lightly vegetal. A solid stout but there is something that I don’t like but I just can’t put my finger on it.

Solid black, foamy brown head. Aroma- bourbon, chocolate, butter, and more alcohol. Taste is sweet dark fruit, not too much bourbon texture or flavor but it does stand out nicely. Very silky texture, toffee and burnt biscuit finish.

12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours near black with a surprisingly big tan head that sticks around the whole time as a film on top of the beer. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, milk, wood, chocolate milkshake powder, and smoke. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts, wood, burnt toast, and tart cherries. Medium bodied, and could use a thicker mouthfeel. The palate is relatively thin and sharp. Some unexpected tartness, just a touch, to go along with the bourbon barrel smokiness. This doesn’t have the vanilla, oak, and bourbon notes that one would expect from the label. That’s disappointing. This isn’t bad, but feels incomplete.

Bttled, thanks Cletus! Very black with rich beige head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate and coffee. Medium-full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Flavour remains vanilla, coffee and bourbon. Finishes with medium bitterness. All you expect from a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout, neither more nor less.

4th July 2008. Palate not too thick. Sour woody tone accompanies a mild bourbon profile. Decent but not in the top echelon of bourbon stouts.

12oz bottle from Woodys in Franklin, TN. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is sweet fruits and a hint of alcohol. Kinda weak flavor of coffee, burnt wood, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium, nice and smooth, and warms the palate. Its alright.

Served from a 12oz bottle that I picked up on my last trip to Indy. The appereance is a rich cola brown with a small pale brown head. The aromas are liquid bourbon, and chocolate. The flavors are a bit shy with quiality in fhe bourbon flavors, vanilla cream, a touch of chocolate. An okay beer but a little short of the mark overall.
