4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Juancho (239) - Clearwater Beach, USA - AUG 28, 2010
Draught @ Taco Mac Alpharetta (Kimball and State Bridge)
Just awesome. Fabulous aroma of hops, resin, pine/spruce, and all things good. Pours amber and hazy with a tainted head that persists for a good 5 minutes. The beer gets better as it warms up feels oily, but not too oily just right, thick and satisfying. Hop bitternes deftly balanced by cereal like malt sugars. Can’t even feel the alcohol....

Amber pour.. nice white head..malty nose with an earthy hop and caramel malty flavor. A good imperial IPA. Enjoy it a lot.

Grifo. Vaso de ½ Pinta. Saboreada en ene´12. Color cobre claro y apariencia cristalina.
On tap. ½ Pint glass. Enjoyed on jan´12. Light copper color, crystal clear appearance. Yellowish white froth. Copious crown & collars. Caramel malt & resins to the nose. Gentle hoppy upfront. Gentle?, no way. Sharp oily resins explode all over. Flavorful & refreshing. Big beer, nice spot of the Imperial IPA style. Typical smartiness of Southern Tier products.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lowenbrau (350) - SPAIN - MAY 28, 2012
650ml bottle. Herbal, sweet aromas. Pours amber-orange, clear, with nice creamy white head, thick and persistent. Some lacing. Body is medium and carbonation is average. Taste is first alcoholic, then sweet and then bitter. Aftertaste is long and sweet, warming. Alcohol not well hidden, not a very well balanced beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vestergaard (27) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - MAY 28, 2012
Dark amber beer with a thick, slightly yellow head. The smell is surprisingly malty with sweets and caramel. The taste got these as well, but got intense fresh hops as well. The beer is very thick for a IIPA and got some barley wine characteristics as well.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Hammy78 (487) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 27, 2012
Bomber purchased at the Dundas LCBO. Pours an orange/ copper colour with a pretty big fluffy white head and lots of spider-web lacing left behind. Smells sweet and hoppy, in between citrus and pine, also smells like vanilla and caramel. Tastes sweet and pine hop bitter. Lots of dry hop bitter aftertaste.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 andyhwcinc (926) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed two days prior to my wedding and immediately after work on the start of a 2 week vacation. Appearance is a brownish gold with a thin white head. Aroma is just pure hops. Taste as well, very hoppy with notes of citrus and a slight bit of bready malt, but I remember this going down very smoothly and almost a bit too quickly. Thought this was awesome stuff!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ron (1695) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle with Dan. Pours dark orange with no head. Aroma of fresh hops, a little pungent and light grapefruit notes. The grapefruit aroma is almost citrusy. Very smooth tasting, some light sweetness, and some grapefruit on the Backend. Surprised not hoppier, but that’s ok. Good balance with malt. Very good beer
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 alpar (154) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Nice beer. Smells of big hops and malty. Very thick mouthfeel but still drinkable, although not session style at 11 ABV. This is a rich resiny hopped beer but it is nice.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 cards04 (298) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 13, 2012
Pours a thick orange with sediment. Massive sweet malts on the nose. Floral and biscuit aromas too. Sweet sugary front...bitter pine tree hoppiness on the back end. Slick and sticky palate. Awesome.

In the bottle from 99 Bottles in Federal Way, WA: Port-like aroma gives an indicator of just how the hoppy beer is going to demand respect. It’s not to be treated like a light bordeaux; it’s almost like a dessert wine - strong, syrupy and with a lot of flavor forward, not just hops either (flavors of raisins and hops combine with the aroma of vanilla and licorice) - and should be treated as such. A nice find, but with the high alcohol content, it will be a rare pleasure.
