4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jesperhammer (1288) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 10, 2012
10-FEB-2012, bottle @home, from "Barleywine".
Clear brown/orange with no head at all. I try a vigorous pour but still no head.
Nose is sweet malts and a touch of alcohol. Orange peel, caramel, dried fruits like apricots and raisins. Taste is much the same. Ends a little bitter, but just a little. Did I save this for too long?
Sweet with no carbonation at all.
Really a delicious beer. Would love to try a fresh one as well.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 FunkyBrewster (1314) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 8, 2012
12 oz bottle batch 78. Pours a strong golden color with a creamy white head. Aroma is very zesty citric, tropical fruity, marmalade, apricot and honey. A touch of spice as well. Flavor is much of the same, super strong honey, toffee and a bright citric fruity character. Finishes with a note of alcohol along with a lingering honey and pale malty note. slightly syrupy medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Good beer, I would love varying vintages and especially fresh.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Westmeister (463) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Draft @ HotD. Pours ano range-amber colour with decent head and nice lace. Aroma is citrus hops, almost a rye spiciness and syrup on the nose. Taste is quite sweet, with citrus zest and some more of the spice I got on the nose. Good, but a tad too sweet and syrupy for me.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 615studios (1) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 27, 2012 does not count
Had on tap at Hair of the Dog in Portland. Honestly one of the best beers I’ve had. The color is deceiving. A bit cloudy and more beige than amber. Not a barley wine as classified here on RB, but a damn fine beer. If they had it available in bottles when I was there I would have bought a case!
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 p1meatloaf (208) - California, USA - JAN 18, 2012
12 oz into sniffer. Looks unfiltered pale apricot. 1 finger thick off white head. Smells of wood alc strong pale malts. Tastes of even more alc along with orange tart sweet wood. Heavy on my palate and beautiful. Overall 9 of 10.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 jar72404 (300) - USA - JAN 18, 2012
Bottle. Gold with thick white head that dissipates to thin head that retains. Aroma is honey and sweet fruits. Flavor is unique and hard to describe: sweet (pears?), a bit of funk, and a long sweet honey finish. Very nice.

Hazy ciderish pour, white head. Creamy sweet and bitter, delicious and unlike anything I’ve had before.

Received in a trade with P1meatloaf
Batch 84
Pours a hazy golden yellow with a huge white fluffy head.
Smells yeasty, fruity - apricot, sweet, and a nice hop aroma as well.
Taste has a nice maltiness to it with the rye not overpowering, but complimenting. It has a nice fruitiness to it as well, and it is all balanced with a good hop bitterness since this a a fairly fresh batch.
This is a great beer that is very unique.
