COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a salute to the ingenuity and creativity of the American craft brewers. A uniquely American style of beer, the Double or Imperial IPA, has become the calling card of many craft brewers who aren’t afraid to push the limits of what hops can add to a beer. This beer is big and hoppy - not for the faint of heart! Be prepared to experience sensory overload as you savor this Imperial IPA. Sensory Profile: Hops, and lots of them. The aroma is bursting with the classic citrus and pine aroma of American-grown hops. The flavor is dominated by a hoppy bitterness, with just enough malt to make you want to take another sip. Food Pairing: This beer needs an assertive food to stand up to it. Match Captain’s Reserve with aged cheeses such as Stilton, cured and grilled meats.

Long Island, NY - 16.9 oz. bottle poured a clear golden color with moderate head and excellent lacing. Aroma was of pine A hint of citrus and hops galore. Taste was initially subtle with the citrus/pine followed by a burst of hops. I generally don’t like IPAs but this one was balanced just right. There is a bitter aftertaste as expected with all IPAs but this one was not so overwhelming to make it abrasive. Another great New York offering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle; cloudy golden with large white head; aroma-hops, pine, caramel, artificial peach, grapefruit; taste-heavy sweetness, very bitter, full body, creamy, average carbonation, bitter finish. Awesome.

Bottle courtesy of falco242. Thanks, Mike! Molasses, sugar and high alcohol profile in the nose. Not particularly hoppy aroma. Hazy, peach color with creamy, off-white head that leaves plentiful, artistic lace. Lots of visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass. Strong resiny hop finish to a full-bodied, sweet and richly hoppy palate. Tastes better than it smells. Seems stronger than 8%, but in a good way; makes your taste buds, and heck, all of your senses, do a happy dance.

Golden, holds its white head. Floral hop aroma. Nothing lacking. Super bitter and hoppy but with the right amount of malt balance, so +1. The taste fizzes and stimulates the palate. Would you be a better woman by drinking this beer? Probably. It’s not hard to drink it though.

Bottle. Poured a hazy pale with an off-white head that settled to a ring and left light lace. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, and light floral. The flavor found caramel, dark fruits, and light hops. Medium body and a malt aftertaste. Comes across more as a Barleywine than a IIPA.

Im not sure if this bottle is old or infected but there is nothing that gives me that indication other than tthat this beer doesnt display a great deal of traditional double ipa character... it has a mildly sweet nose, its a little piney and creamy at the same time, pale golden amber smaller head... dry finish, some herbal honey flavor, pine dominates... nice lacing, medium to medium full bodied...

Pours a golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is on the malty side...some honey...odd scent of maybe melon?...smells a bit like a cream soda dum dum. Flavor mildly reminds me of cigar citys guava groove up front...some earthy melony notes, faintly butterscotchy and finally a bit of hoppiness in the end...citrusy pineapple. Mouthfeel is silky and the finish is hoppy and dry. Overall...I’m slightly disappointed.
