pours a slightly hazed pale yellow with a tight gentle pure white head. The nose is very nice balance of lambic. fruit and barrel, dry oak up front with some earthy mushroom notes, musky, and tart white grapes. The taste is similar, lots of dry oak and tart vinous white wine characteristics. More funky earthy cobweb flavors than traditional cantillons. Tartness is strong, bright white grapes, light acetic acid in the back burns a little but not from alcohol heat. Medium to light body, very soft on the palate, great carbonation and very dry finish. Acetic acid is starting to impede on an otherwise very tasty beer.

Cantillon Reed Gueuze Muskat var mycket syrlig men hade ändå en ganska len fruktighet. Distinkt ton av aprikos och överhuvudtaget en ganska elegant Cantillon.

Bottle at Akkurat in November 2011. Vintage 2005. Finally I had the chance to try this one. It poured a hazy golden with a brief, quite large white head. Very tart aroma with notes of grapes, fruit, especially apricot. Also some citrus, oak and barnyard. The taste was very tart with something "interesting", it must have been the Muscat grapes. The body was around medium, and the liquid very dry. An excellent beer I must say, really wonderful to drink.

[9/25/11] Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim ’11 tour. Bottle at Akkurat in Stockholm. Hazy deep golden with a frothy white head. Aroma of barnyard, a bit of manure, some leathery and cheesy notes and some fruitiness. Very sour funky flavor with some lactic notes (a bit of yogurt), lamon and a slightly astringent finish. Medium-bodied. No real grape character left, but still a good and extremely sour Gueuze.

Hazy light gold, thin white head with small bubbles, pour retention. Musty nose cobweb heavier than traditional Cantillon, woody with light alcohol and a bit acetic. Flavor is moderately acetic, some strawberry, cherry, wood with a heavy but short citrus and cider-like in the short finish. Thin and less rounded than the Reed Pinot Noir.

Cantillon reed muscat. 750ml bottle consumed at akkurat. Brewed in 2005 specifically for the bar... This lambic pours golden, mostly hazy and allowing a decent level of light to pass through, while the thin film of bubbly head quickly fades and therefore leaving any visibility of having been there at all... Aroma is softer than expected with a white wine presence while a gueueze like base is still adequately represented. Not as funky as some nor as vibrant or interesting as the reed Pinot noir, at least at first. A slight funk quality exists but not too an assertive degree... Flavors are sharp and acidic with semi- sweet white wine grapiness that co-exist harmoniously with the gueuze. The sweet qualities are quickly fading and transitions quick and effortlessly to the base gueuze. As mentioned earlier, mildly to medium sense of acidity to the extent of a perfect balalce and then finishing firmly on a dry note. A big difference between the pinot mostly due to the type o barrel but still exquisitely delightful as this was mire genuinely gueuze-like while offering up an assertive white wine sensibility but still playing second fiddle to the aforementioned. think i prefer the pinot a touch more all though with very similar scores overall. 8/4/9/4/16

Bottle at Akkurat shared with tarheels86. Hazy yellow gold, massive head that settles quickly. Aroma of snap dragon flowers, the kind my grandmother had in her garden. Taste is very sour, dry, floral with lilac, grapefruit, lemon. Interesting.

750mL gold foil 2005 ed from Akkurat in Stockholm. Looks like a Dom Perignon bottle. The pour out of the basket is a hazy, deep grapefruit juice with a decent, dwindling white head. Aroma is heavy peach, pineapple yogurt, pineapple soft serve like Dole Whip from Disney World, dust, earth, heavy perfumey tangerine. Really incredible. The taste is heavy lemon yogurt, lemon tart, pretty sour and tannic, fresh citrus heavy, heavy sour blood orange, big vitamin C. Incredible sharp lemon, fruit leather, and loads of key lime pile on creating quite a sour body- albeit too sour. Palate is tannic, dry, lemon. Probably will rip your head off. Needs a lot more time to mellow out in my opinion.
