3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 FudgeSociety (243) - Florida, USA - FEB 8, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 Such a damn shame this beer is old. Breweries need to step the fuck up and put a clear bottle date on their beers; Great Divide knows what’s up. I can still taste what this beer could be at it’s prime though enough to give it a good score (I love simcoe hops). Too sweet though at this stage, and old hops taste like shit.

Pours a cloudy brownish red. Small but tight head, leaves some thin lacing. Aroma is very sweet, caramel, dark brown sugar, grilled pineapple, citrusy hops. Full bodied and viscous, oily in the middle, creamy on the finish. Hardcore simcoe hop flavor, pine, resin, cat piss. Moderate carbonation. The finish is nicely hopped and very bitter, with a very sweet toffee malt quality to balance it out. Very good, maybe a bit too sweet.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 JEK69 (34) - FRANCE - FEB 4, 2012
Poured in a pint: cloudy orange and browny. A thin foam disk quickly disappears.
A sweet aromatic blend of pineapple, mango, honey and apricot jam.Well bittered on a solid malted base. Smoothy, maybe too sweet and lack of freshness. But really great.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Panzerfaust (462) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - FEB 2, 2012
355 ml bottle from El Irlandés. This IIPA pours dark orange color with a great white head that diminishes slowly and never disappears. Aroma is intensely hoppy, brutal, fruity and kicking. It has notes of watermelon, pine resin, lemongrass, lime and cactus fruit. One of the most extreme hoppy aromas I’ve ever felt. Taste is extremely bitter with a good balance of caramel malts. Well structured. I get piney notes, lime, tropical fruit salad, kiwifruit and some caramel. Simcoe hops are powerful and overwhelming. Tremendously strong, powerful IIPA. Bitterness lasts for minutes in the aftertaste, especially in the back of the palate. Body is full with warming alcohol that can be felt softly. In the mouth it feels oily but finishes astringent and slightly corrosive. Pair it with hot spicy seafood. A great extreme IIPA that feels like a carpet bombing of hops.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 _angst_ (511) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 2, 2012
Draught @ BAJT. Pours cloudy amberish orange with a small creamy white head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and malty with caramel, honey, very ripe peaches, apricot, pine, resin and alcohol. Taste is honey sweet, bitter and malty with pine, mango, peaches, grapefruit, orange peal and grass. Finish is sweet, malty and bitter with lemon zest.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BenH (520) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 22, 2012
From bottle. Pours orange with white head. Not at all what I was expecting! Not the citrus fruit hop explosion I thought it would be. Instead it had an aroma of toffee and caramel with lots of resinous hops and only a slight tropical fruit note. Similar taste, lots of malt character perfectly accompanied by the resinous hops, it is fruity but not as up front as a typical dipa, instead we have the resinous hops and the caramel malt both contributing hugely. Perfecty balanced and not overly bitter. Took me a while to get my head around this but it is an exceptional beer.

36cl, American brew, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, bitter/sweet and slightly floral/fruity, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, very good brew, yet expensive!
