COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cane and Ebel is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This unique red rye beer is full of hop flavor and aroma. We add 35 pounds of Thai palm sugar to each batch. The sugar does not add much sweetness to the beer, but rather a fruity and vanilla-like flavor. A new hop variety called Summit is really showcased here. This 18%AA hop is also very aromatic which gives a pungent citrus aroma. Then we heavily dry hopped the beer with Simcoe.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a somewhat clear mahogany color with a small white head. A sweet nutty aroma with some caramel and fruity hops. A interesting flavor with spicy rye, some caramel like sugars, spicy hops, something almost tropical here. Light simcoe does show in the finish with a bit of resin. Very interesting.

Bottle. Sweet orange hops aroma. Amber with a moderate beige head. Sweet sugary rye malt and sweet orange hops flavor. Medium body. Great malt hop balance, the sweet/bitter/rye combo worked really well for me.

Pours a dark amber/brown with a thinner khaki beige head. Sweet, hoppy, spicy nose with some tea leaves, pine, and refreshing citrus notes. Taste is fairly sweet but slightly more bitter. Palate is fuller bodied and dry, especially on the finish. Very nice.

I wouldn’t particularly categorize it as a strong ale....pours brown/red with little to no head, no lacing. Smells is aromatic citrus and fruit, somewhat hoppy. Has the palate of a lighter IPA, bitter, clean and refreshing. Finish is crisp and clean. Very satisfying beer.

Extra from beersis Pours a very dark color, only ruby when you hold it up to light. About a finger of white head. Smell is fruity, citrus and red fruit, and sweet. Taste is powerful floral hops, rye, cherry, fairly bitter but a nice sweet tea aftertaste. Very drinkable, medium bodied. Pretty damned good beer.
