COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the beginning of 2006 the people behind Denmark's leading beer bar "Ølbaren", the leading beer shop "Ølbutikken" and Ølfabrikken sat down together to plan a beer that was to be only served from tap at Ølbaren and only sold in bottles from Ølbutikken. After a night of drinking it ended up with a massive Russian Imperial Chocolate Stout using ingredients from four continents. South american Cocoa, Asian coffee, North american hops and European malts. Ølfabrikken ØL is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced at 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

(swing top bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Black coloured hue with a brown and short foamy head. Sweet and strong roast-malty aroma with caramel, liquorice, fruity notes of dried berries, raisins, as well as a tinge of woody hops. Sweet and moderately bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Aromatic roast-malty base with burnt notes, caramel, coffee and liquorice; long lasting roasty malty finish with a cornucopia of flavours and rounded hoppy and warming alcoholic notes. Very enjoyable indeed. 29.XII.08

500 ml swingtop; thanks Alex!! Pours dense black with trace tan head; big aromas of rich chocolate; drinks quite very thin and ashy; flavors of dry, bitter chocolate and dry malt; some chocolate candies, ashy roast; crazy dry and chalky finish; mild oxidation mixed with the burnt malts and creamy chocolate; pretty nice overall

50 cl bottle at the Laland tasting (12.12.09). Black color, almost no head. Aroma is lovely roasted malt, with coffee and chokolate. Flavor is roasted malt and chokolate, with fine hops. A bit salty. Very long aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to marsiblursi. Pour is very turbid dark brown with very minimal head. This had some light sweetness and some faint chocolate, but the peat and the smokiness of it kind off dominated the flavor. Also a bit gritty. Not sure if this bottle was quite up to par. Not offensive, but not quite right either.

Bottle, at the brew day, May 2006. Dark and full bodied, bit smooth and silky too. Fairly dry with lots of chocolate throughout. Doesn’t taste too boozy, a common problem with high ABV beers. Also had this on draught at Olbaren. Delicious

Bottle shared by beernbourbon at ratebeer chicagoland gathering. Thanks Vince! Swingtop came off with a big pop. Pours a deep brown with a tiny tan head. Notes of smoke, chocolate, earth. A little grainy and a touch of soy sauce. sticky mouthfeel. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. A neat beer, but maybe past its prime. who knows. Although Vince can’t be blamed as he had to wait years for this chicago ratebeer gathering where he could finally share the bottle. Thanks Vince!

Very dark w/ a brown head. Kind of a soy sauce twinge to the aroma along w/ roasted malt. Slightly tart w/ some hings of coffee and chocolate. Sort of smokey and brackish tasting and maybe a bit thin.
