A copper reddish beer, with one finger head. At nose it is irony and grassy. aroma is hoppy dominated by the bitterness, just a little fruity. Nothing else to highlight.

Pours amber copper red brown, with lacing off-white head. Aromas: hints of Plums, berries, barley malts. Palate is smooth carbonated, bitter mouthful and thick, yet little tart. Texture medium full, with fruity note. Aftertaste bitter and dry hoppy with hints of fruitiness and metallic cardboard. Finish dry and flat. Hardly anything special though.

half-liter bottle poured into a nonic. Appearance is a clear copper with a health white head. Retention is excellent as is lacing. Smell is pure skunk. The clear bottle was a terrible idea is this beer is a perfect example. One of the skunkiest beers I have smelled. I was hoping it would dissipate after awhile but no such luck. Underneath the skunk, however, there are some earthy hops and caramel malt. The flavor continues the skunk. Earthy hops are more detectable, though, and a soft underlying bitterness throughout. There is plenty of caramel malt along with a moderate sweetness. Mouthfeel is pretty good. This is a beer I would love to try out of a cask or keg. I feel that fresh and without the skunk, this could be a really good beer.

ALLOVATE (1534) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - JAN 3, 2012
Clear bottle’s a good start.
Pours a tawny chestnut and sparkling. Carbonation is very, very fine but sparse in its release. Soapy, soppy off-white crown is mostly lasting, laces little. An odd mix of burnt toast, toffee and caramel, salted roast peanuts, kelp and dried flower petals on the nose. Sweet, toffee praline front hits first in the mouth. It is watery yet the body is not light and a couple of mouthfuls in has bloated me. A little burnt caramel and smoke, phenolic and rubbery in the back mish-mashed with mild hop tones. Claps out late, astringent malt notes and the rubber just mar it beyond enjoyment. Not good. Peppery side draws on the saliva glands, this is just clumsy stuff. A struggle!! Bottle at parent’s house. hay, amber, clear, minimal head, lightly bitter, light body, slick feel, average carbonation.

Bottle. Dark amber colour with no head. Aroma is roasty malt. Dry and bitter on palate. In my opinion there’s absolutely nothing IPA in it.

KyotoLefty (3476) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 17, 2011
Bottle. Nose is a bit skunked from the clear bottle...otherwise light malts, a bit of carmel, touch of cinnamon, hay. Rther unexciting nose. Deep orange-amber color with a low, thick, head. Rather pretty. Light malt, mineral flavor, somewhat sweet, caramel, bit of vanilla, slight touch of earthy hops. Slightly peppery finish. Dull.

Not too shabby in appearance, but nothing particularly special going on in the taste to make this a regular tipple. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
