A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, youíre about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Thanks to Momar42 for the bottle! 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours an ultra-viscous looking pitch black color. Itís an amazingly heavy looking monster. The head is a one-finger dark tan color with fantastic texturing. Retention isnít perfect, but the level of lacing is downright beautiful. It just looks amazing. S: Wow, this is one of the most chocolaty-smelling imperial stouts Iíve ever encountered. There are also notes of hazelnut, cream, vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, and slight dark fruit. No frills, but fuckiní fantastic regardless. T: It seems like Founders took the basic essence of a standard-issue RIS and distilled it into rapturous glory. I first notice flavors of cream, vanilla, and chocolate; before roasted malts envelop the tastebuds. The umami qualities on the finish are glorious, melding together with anise, tobacco, and pine flavors. It has just enough complexity to keep the palate guessing, while being simple enough that one can easily pick out the differing handful of flavors. Yum. M: You wouldnít expect such a thick, creamy monster to be so drinkable - but the delicately dry finish and brilliant alcohol concealment means this will be all gone before you know what to do. Itís not so dry as to render its aftertaste gutted, however; some syrupy linger remains without creating overpowering sweetness. One of the best RIS palate feels Iíve ever encountered outside of Nogne Oís RIS. O: Founders didnít reinvent the wheel, they just showed every other brewer how it should be made in the first place. A brilliant reminder why this is my favorite style out there, and a not-so-brilliant reminder that this was the only bottle I had. :(

35cl Bottle, thanks douberd! Pitch black colour, brown head. Aroma of pumpernickel, coffee, ash, caramel, roasted malts, some dark fruits. Flavour is deep roasted malts, ashy, dry, chocolate, a lot less sweet than expected, caramel, light fruity, hoppy, firm bitter finish. Full bodied. Very good.

Pours opaque black with stable brown creamy head. Aroma: alcohol is mild medium noticable (oak whiskey), with vanilla, chocolate, mocha notes. Flavor: alcohol is evident, but not in a disturbing way. Namely it is very well balanced with malts (notes of oak, tobacco, vanilla, mocha, hint of chocolate) and hops (esters of dark fruits and pine). Malt sweetnees is medizm to high, hop bitterness also. Body is sticky, finish is long lasting. This imperial stout is proper to drink only fresh, namely it is not proper for cellaring. I tried both: fresh and matured-and only fresh is really mervellus

i used to hate these guys. they mustíve gotten a new brewmaster because this imperial stout is almost too good to believe. i only had it once, then it disappeared from new york city. the breakfast is also very good, but this imperial stout is just hard to fathom.

One word, wow! This is an unbelievable stout with incredible complexity and lingering flavors on the palate. The flavors grow and morph as the beer warms in the glass. Remarkably smooth for such a big brew. This beer could be a meal of its own. Definitely one that I will drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured jet black with big chocolate brown head. Aroma is of dark berries, dark chocolate, coffee. Quite sweet in flavour. Coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, lactose nicely balanced with a dry bitter finish. Flavour lingers a good while after sipping. This is what an imperial stout should be like. beautiful!!!

Bottle. Pours black with a lovely, thick, dark brown head. Aroma has roasty malts, dark dark chocolate, slight hops, licorice, caramel, burned sugar, toasted malts. Taste is sweet with again lots of caramel and a huge, hoppy, chocolaty, roasty bitter finish. Sticky body and a low carbonation.
