Commercial Description:
From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. http://www.lostabbey.com

Thanks to my Secret Santa for the is brew, had it as my Christmas afternoon beer. Hazy orange copper pour with a thin tan head. Musty, grainy, citrus aroma. Smooth malt taste with a citrus hop bitterness. A wonderfully relaxing farmhouse ale.

Yum, great beer. Nice example of a biere de garde. Has all the prerequisites: yeasty, bready tartness, fresh, quaffable. Definitely session. Poured with a nice large white foamy frothy head and lots of lace. Color is a hazy amber. Aroma is as above. Body is very good and so is carbonation. Finish follows flavor and therefore it’s easy to think of another swallow.

Bottle shared by pinball. Amber body with a steady off white head. Caramel, spicy yeast, esters and fruit in aroma. The flavour is dry and spicy with notes of Belgian yeast and fruit. Very nice and dry finish. So nice.

Bottle. Orange pour, with little head ring most of the way during drinking. Gentle aroma and gentle on the palate with a little bite. Very mellow beer. Enjoyed.

Glorious orange pour. Medium weight malty ale. Mostly dry, but with a gentle hoppy edge. The aroma starts out nice and floral, and then turns meaner. AG is a nice farmhouse brew, but not too exciting really (like most bieres de garde). Some brown sugar and nutty notes. Mellow mouthfeel creates a bit of contrast with the light bitterness. A solid brew, in a bottle that was pretentiously adorned with a champagne cork (that took a while to remove).

Bottle 75cl.
Unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, perfume, moderate yeasty, coriander notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, and and dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
