Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

Dec 22, 2006 Bottle at home. Another wonderful experience. Very light and sweet. Much less dense in flavour and texture than its darker brethren. Least favourite of the 3 Westies. But, absolutely nothing to complain about.

Clear light golden with a medium head. Light fruity aroma. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Very good balanced session beer, but 12 an 8 are the real gems from Weatvleteren

Trappist monks from the Catsberg monastery in France founded the St Sixtus monastery in 1831. In 1838, brewing began at Westvleteren. The blonde with the green cup is probably the best beer I ever tasted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330cc bottle. Pours pale blonde and slightly hazy with nice white foamy head. A bit of citrus, herb, yeast, wet straw, malt and biscuit. Very belgian, perfectly balanced. A great belgian blonde and strait forward brew, without complexity but very wel crafted.

Cloudy golden, some floating sediment. Stable, rocky, white head. Fruity, malty aroma. Grain and hints of yeast. Flavour has malt, notes of banana and candy. Hints of barnyard in the long nose. Light and easily drinkable, not overly complex but well balanced. Creamy and fluffy mouthfeel with good bitter and dry bite. Good one.

Bronze body with a poofy head. Lovely aroma evinces fresh grains, accompanied by easygoing esters. The body drinks of easy, clean graininess--as if the grains are fresh off the mill. Touches of Belgian esters impart a complementary aspect and depth.

Very nice beer. Refreshing on a hot day, good taste and after taste, very smooth. A firm head that lasts. Not the best of the Westvleterens but very nice.

330ml bottle at home from trade with Erzengel, many thanks. Bottle past the BB-date. light yellow light hazy color. medium big white head. smells fruity, yeasty, acidic, light barnyard, some sweetness, honey notes, light metallic. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes quite fruity, some sweetness, citric, acidic, oranges, peach, light soapy, lemongrass. finishes dry and with a nice light citric sour note. great beer, drinks very nice, I liked the taste a lot better than the smell, possibly because the beer is past its prime, but still drinks very nice and refreshing. reminds me a bit of a saison.
