COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%. In 2009 this went to 9.8%.

All vintages of this barley wine (1999, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010) are to be rated on this page.

2011 bottle. An amber coloured beer with a caramelly aroma. Taste has some hoppy notes, along with scotch, almond, caramel, and hazelnut. A good barley wine. Good hopes for the 2007 bottle I will try after..

341ml bottle is 2009 vintage and pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger off-white head which leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel malts and hints of hops and spices. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with some fruitiness and a llight hoppy bitterness and hints of spices. There is a nice warming from the alcohol. This is a complex and tasty ale.

This is a great Barley Wine. Going to age my other bottle for a year or two. The pour is a nice and bright amber body with a thin yellowish head. An intensely malted nose with big biscuit and toffee malts and a nice hop presence. Noticing the boose on the nose as well. The taste is sweet and well malted with toffee and fruit notes. A mild hop on the finish with light resin and a prevalent alcohol on the finish. Overall, an intense brew with awesome toffee sweet Malts.

Poured a clear orange amber with a small white head that dissipate to a film around the edges. Aroma was sweet with caramel and grains. Underlying notes of alcohol and citrus were present as well. Flavor had notes of caramel and sweet grains

2009. Pour is a murky muddy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar and molasses. Flavor is lots of plum with some oak, vanilla and caramel. Leaves a heavy coating on the tounge as this goes down. A very heavy beer but very tasty and still drinking quite well.

341 ml bottle, 2011 edition. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Smells somewhat dry, woody, fruity. Taste is that of oak, fruity wine, fruitcake, sweet gelly. Basically, very, very sweet, yet it has a nice alcohol presence which comes to balance it all. Nice level of bitterness in the finish. Leaves a lingering woody, oak cask taste. Body is somewhat creamy, a tad bit watery. Extremely easy-drinking considering its complexity, I loved every single sip of it.

Bottle, 341ml, 2009 vintage. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a tiny white dissipating head. Smells sweet with orange peels, grass, prune, brown sugar. Tastes excessively sweet, with a strong hippy bitter counter. Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Finishes dry. Very tasty.

Share from athe 2009 bottle from Damico. Pours orange to light brown. Nose is vanilla, oak and candy sugar. First sip is a balance of malt and bitternes. Lingering lemon rind flavors in the finish.
