Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.

Bottle @ Christers. Courtesy of Adnielsen, thanks alot Aaron ! Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Had to be noted that looks is the only minor "downside" to this beer. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, wood, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, coconut. Flavor is malts, bourbon, oak, wood, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, plums, figs. Lots going and still very well balanced. Full body, soft carbonation, light warming alcohol in the finish. Fan-fuckin-tastic over the top beer. 040213

2015 edition. Poured from a bomber into a chalice on 03.25.15. A: Bourbon, chocolate, fig, vanilla, raisin oatmeal, dark fruit, allspice, and molasses. Amazing smell. Bourbon dominant, but balanced. A: 1/2 finger off-white head, which recedes quickly to a ring with spots of foam. Black body with lots of see through brown and red in the glass. T: Bourbon, raisin oatmeal, cherry, and molasses dominate. Oak woodiness, nuttiness, vanilla, and allspice are subtle. P: Silky smooth. Its on the lighter side, but still somewhat syrupy. O: Its amazingly complex. The alcohol is hidden for 14% ABV, though it does warm nicely. Bourbon dominates, but all of the flavors are balanced. Its a world class beer.

On tap a Frisco, Columbia. Dark brown black with thin tan head. Aroma is oaky, boozy, molasses, vanilla and Cuban cigars. Starts of with alcohol warmth and dark chocolate, molasses and vanilla. Finish is roasty dark chocolate and vanilla. It is a sipper, but I had trouble sipping it because it was just so tasty.

Flavor is sweet caramel, raisins, brown sugar, molasses bourbon oak and bittersweet chocolate. Finishes with lingering dark chocolate. Another amazing Firestone Walker offering.

This is the 2015 parabola. Amazing the aromas. There is choc cherry and vanilla in this dark brown brew with no head. A choc cherry cordial. The taste is choc sweet woody as the after taste comes the wood comes out along with cherry and a warming taste from the 14%. It's full bodied and low carb. A great beer.

650 ml bottle, 2014 edition at 14% ABV, shared with Werckmeister.
Almost black body, with a medium, creamy, beige, yellowish head.
Very complex, perfectly balanced, smooth aroma of bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate, just the right amount of booze, various barrel notes, dark and dried fruits.
Taste is also wonderfully big, more boozy than the nose, but also greatly balanced, with bourbon, smooth coffee, caramel, melting chocolate, dried and dark fruits, liquorice and so much more...
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty, alcoholic, a bit astringent, but very smooth, complex, with coffe, dark chocolate, barrel notes, some liquorice, cocoa.

Wow! Heavy and smooth at the same time. Alcohol is present, but surprisingly well balanced for the ABV. A wonderful, very complex, comfortable sipper. One of the best Imperial Stouts Ive had so far!

bottle kindly shared by Saeglopur, many thanks :) very nice oily texture, black color, small coffee-colored head. smells very liqueurish, some wooden notes, some malty sweetness, coffee, caramel, some alcohol, light dried fruits, dried boletus, some alcohol, molasses. full body, full mouthfeel, very slick, soft carbonation. tastes liqueurish, some sweetness, alocoholic, wooden notes again, some light roasty notes, brown sugar, coffee, caramel. malty sweet / liqueurish finish. wow. strong and sweet and alcoholic (for the high ABV quite hidden though), but I like it.

At 14 percent you are always going taste the alcohol but this is pretty smooth at the end of day.

Licorice and Spanish cedar aroma. Taste like French roast coffee mildly carbonated with a touch of bourbon as the alcohol heats up mouthfeel .

Parabola 12 vintage Many thanks to Kevin for the bottle. Pours a black color, with a decent, bubbly head. Aromas reveal a rich Bourbon note among chocolate, coffee and wood. The Bourbon is very well pronounced, hovering on top of sweet, toffeeish malts, bakers chocolate and molasses, well balanced between sweet, earthy and bitter aromas. Toffee and hot Bourbon blend outstandingly well into each other, with coffee playing a balancing role, bittering the nose. Drinks incredibly smooth, revealing the rich, decadent body of the beer, with almost no carbonation necessary to showcase its complexity. While the Bourbon is very prominent on the nose, it is well integrated into the beers taste, due to earthy malts, wood and creamy milk chocolate, balancing the bourbonic impact. It tastes quite hot though, with coffee blending into the oak incredibly well, exhibiting a slightly dry quality, absorbed by sweeter chocolate with lots of cream. The bitternes turns quite prominent, due to the wooden, hot bite, inviting matured hops and coffee to the tongue. Until the very end, coffee and chocolate are on par, leading to a semi-dry, slightly burning finish. Fantastic brew, outstandingly balanced, while providing an amazing depth. Wooden coffee and creamy milk chocolate are balancing the Bourbon artfully, both staying recognizable until the finish, while their taste gets gently transformed due to luscious, slightly dry, warming Bourbon and notes of coconut, as well as vanilla.

Black with dark red/brown head. Lots of bourbon, chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Same characteristics follow in the flavor along with dark dried fruit and vanilla. Expected some soy or fish sauce notes which seems typical of the style, but they never appeared - this is not a bad thing. Full bodied, rich and very satisfying.
