Bottle shared by the Captain. A dark red pour with tons of off white head. Good carbonation. Taste of vanilla and flowers. A little too sweet for my taste but very good. Pretty sure I like the regular St. Bernardus a little more but not by much.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pushkinwow (866) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 18, 2012
2nd last bottle, best before 10/10/11. Ruby mahogany with a creamy biege head. Don’t find this very oxidized at all - mostly like an intense aged St Bernardus. Muted Belgian yeast with some candied sugar, malts, some plum and raisin, toffee, bit of tortuga rum cake, some vanilla and mmmmmm. Moderate but pleasant carbonation, full body, slightly sweet with a nice Belgian yeast with vanilla and toffee. Becomes quite dry, long finish, delicious.

Much like the standard 12, but perhaps a little more sharp. No mjor diversion from the 12 but it doesn’t need to be.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 luttonm (962) - Belgrade, SERBIA - JAN 28, 2012
750ml bottle. Old Rating. Loved the box so much that it still sits on my shelf. The original Abt 12 is one of my favorites, this did have a little bit more to it. Huge pour with crazy tall white head that laces and stays. Dark but light-cutting brown. Huge rising flavor that is slightly metallic, robust and effervescent. High carbonation that bitters a touch. SE did have more hop depth.

Bottle (thank to hannonT)... Poured deep, dense reddish/brown with a tan head. Heavy with booze and malt sweetness. Tasted grains, caramel sweetness. Dark fruits like plums and figs, cocoa, and big yeast esters towards the finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 EricE (1288) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Bottle courtesy of MrChopin. Pours a chunky and hazy brown with a thin tan head. Toasty, nutty aroma with fruity nuts. Hints of strawberry. Flavor sweet and malty. Very nutty and toasty. Dry bitter finish. Goes down pretty easy.

Crushed with Jakebra. Aged for about 3 years. A bit oxidized, but still pretty damn good. Lots of dark fruits and yeast flavor with a hint of booze. Wonderful mouthfeel. A pretty intense beer.

Thanks Chuck! Pour is dark brown with some slight red tints and a gigantic bubbling tan head. Aroma is sweet with notes of raisins, fig newtons, candied sugar, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is sweet at first but transitions nicely. Yeasty finish with notes of dried bananas, light chocolate, and slight booze. This has aged very well over the 5 years or so, great Quad!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kuphish (351) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 3, 2011
An EC special. Pours a clear, mahogany body with a large, rocky, light tan head. Sticky, clingy lacing. Date and prune aroma with some Belgian phenolics. Bright berry flavors in the flavor come through almost candyish. Some brown sugar/light molasses. Rounded out by a bit of mulling spice. Phenolics seem absent here. Sweet up front with no real bitterness. Finishes fairly dry with a light alcohol presence to add a pinch of sweetness. Super tasty!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 adnielsen (3755) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Bottle @ home. Cloudy, brown appearance with a creamy, brown head. Strong, dark candy sugar, caramel, dark fruity, raisin, plum, Belgian yeasty aroma. Dark plum, slightly citrusy, Belgian yeasty, deep caramel, toffee, mild chocolate, candy sugar flavor. Nice brew but I think I slightly prefer the normal version.
