COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition. This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus. This beer, as all our beers, is 100 % natural, with no preservatives, no adjuncts and no chemicals. We bottle it in bottles of 75 cl and closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. Every year the public is invited to assist to the brewing process.
Was 8% abv in 2000-2002, 10% in 2003 and 11% in 2004.

DISCLAIMER: This is a dark beer and the label has a blue diagonal line.

2012 from LCBO. 0.75l bottle all to myself. Poured in a tulip. Appearance: Transparent dark orange, fine frothy beige head, some visible carbonation. Aroma: Caramel, banana, hints of grapes, roasted chestnuts, chocolate. Palate: thick bodied, fizzy, smooth, kinda syrupy. Taste: super sweet start, has more of a savoury finish. Nice complex flavour here.

Tap at the Answer. Dessert! Dark fruit, bready. Very sweet but clean- not cloying. A hint of bitterness to balance. I want more of this when its cold out.

One of the greatest beers I have ever had. Perfect in every way. Great aroma, takes over the room. Balanced taste. Awesome.

Editie 2016. Mooi robijn rood/bruin bier.

Dark reddish brown with silky smooth head that stays long. Aroma of raisins, plums, dark fruits, sweet malt sugar. Sweet sugary taste with plums, raisins, and dark fruits. Finishes with sweet syrup. Overall this is very good beer, challenging yet sweet and alcohol doesnt taste on it at all. Spicy chocolate cake in bottle

Vertical tasting with 2013 and 2015 releases. Brown color. Aroma of brown sugar, yeat, fruits, raisins and caramel. Sweet taste of dried fruits, raisins and apricot. The 2013 year release is a bit more mellow and that adds to the balance. Sweet finish with some lingering spice.

Smell of malt, caramel, floral, dark fruit. Come in dark brown with thin creamy crown. Taste of malt, caramel.... way too sweet for beer. Sweet overcome every other good things. Right texture, slightly slimy. Everything is good just need less sweetness.

Wonderful and complex flavour with cocoa and fruit hints with roasted notes. An absolute wonder!
