4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From notes: tried two separate bottlings, and will compare/contrast here. Started with a 2007 bottling, sold in 2008. Poured ruby red with a small, thin off-white head. Aromas of dark candied fruit and caramel. Full-bodied, with a slight thickness to it. Still, not too heavy and a nice, lingering finish. Slight dryness and astringency to the finish. Flavors of dark cherry, candied fruit, mild caramel and maybe cola. Next, was a "fresh" 2010 bottling, sold for the 2011 holiday season. Appearance was identical. Aroma similar, but with more alcohol in the nose. Palate is significantly thicker and syrupy. All of the flavors are there, but are muted by a fairly strong note of alcohol. All-in-all, excellent, but worth aging if you have the patience. Wondering how much longer I should keep that 1995 bottle in my refrigerator...

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 330ml bottle. Nutty brown colour, very little head. Sweet nose, taste is caramel, alcohol, a little sickly perhaps. Ok but didn?t quite live up to the hype.

Bottle. A sweet aroma of mulled wine, a little bit alcoholic. The beer has no head, the body is dark red to brown. The taste is very sweet, strong amount of spices, like liqueur. The finish is a little bit bitter. The body is heavy, oily and creamy with a soft carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 330ml, lightly chilled. Pours dark caramel reddish-brown. Head is almost nonexistent and quick to fade. Aroma of sweet malt, wine, alcohol, caramel, fruit, spice, vanilla, really good smell. Body is full and thick, with slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is very gentle and fades too quickly. The carbonation and alcohol produces amazing gentle tingling sensation. Tastes very sweet but not cloying, also surprisingly not sticky. Flavors of sweet caramel, roasted malt, alcohol, orange peel, sweet liqueur, warm spices, licorice, raisins, vanilla, slight hop, fruity chocolate, peppery, slight clove, ripe fruits, light buttery notes. This is a great drink for a special occasion. This beer is not trying to hide it’s alcohol, it’s more of a lightly carbonated malt liqueur and this is nice. Do share the bottle as it is quite strong and can serve three easily. Do pour quite cold to a legged glass, as this beer is meant to be sipped slowly and it will warm up while drinking, revealing more flavors.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Almost purple brown colour without head. Smell of oak, roasty malts, herbs. Taste of caramel, oak, roasty malt with little notes of caramel. Very malty, dense beer almost liquoric, perfect for really cold winter time.
