COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

From notes: tried two separate bottlings, and will compare/contrast here. Started with a 2007 bottling, sold in 2008. Poured ruby red with a small, thin off-white head. Aromas of dark candied fruit and caramel. Full-bodied, with a slight thickness to it. Still, not too heavy and a nice, lingering finish. Slight dryness and astringency to the finish. Flavors of dark cherry, candied fruit, mild caramel and maybe cola. Next, was a "fresh" 2010 bottling, sold for the 2011 holiday season. Appearance was identical. Aroma similar, but with more alcohol in the nose. Palate is significantly thicker and syrupy. All of the flavors are there, but are muted by a fairly strong note of alcohol. All-in-all, excellent, but worth aging if you have the patience. Wondering how much longer I should keep that 1995 bottle in my refrigerator...

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Playing South Park Stick of Truth. The alcohol is noticeable in the taste but not in negative way but in a warming one. Has every good thing of a doppelbock

Deep copper ruby body. Small not lasting white head. Aroma of dried plum, fig, caramel, alcohol. Flavours of caramel, dried plum, strong alcohol presence. Warm caramel sweet finish. Dried plum aftertaste with alcohol lingering. Alcohol is too forward. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very intense sweet flavor. Think treacle and dates. This is balanced by the warm alcohol. This is actually rather nice much better then I expected. A perfect strong winter beer. One to share.

This actually is my favorite beer. Serious business all around, quite unique wine-like taste, strong beer for strong experience. Totally worth it’s price, you won’t regret it. APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW !

Clear copper colour, minimal head that disappears instantly. Nose of fruit syrup, prune, port wine. Full body. Syrupy texture. Vinous taste, port, dark fruit, syrup. Some bitterness for balance. Very good.

the aroma of caramel, red wine, dark fruits, milk chocolate, toffee and some spices... the taste is fruity and caramel with notes of port, dark fruits, candy, toffee and, a little bit, alcohole... sweet, dry and warming aftertaste...
