4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is one of the best beers that I’ve ever had. Tasted a shot glass of it at the brewpub and was motivated to buy my first growler ever. This is a beer that is everything it sounds like it should be and more. Just wow, wow...wow...To me just a creme brulee espresso bomb in your mouth. There is so little alcohol on the palate that you’d think this isn’t really beer.

As good as the regular release, tons of cocoa and vanilla sweetness to balance.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2013 On draft at the Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice. The pour is black, with a lighter khaki head and a decent lace. The aroma is very heavy in coffee, with a decent crème brûlée positive note. The bit of roastyness that exists is pretty drown out by the coffee. The flavor is initially very bitter. The caramel mores come through about half way through and it finishes a little dry and slightly strange for an imperial. Overall it’s a good stout, but the aromas led me to believe this would be incredible where the flavors just let it down a bit

Tap @ GTMW 13.
pour is nearly black, with a small off-white head.
Aroma is packed with vanilla, coffee and slight chocolate. (Some might say, it’s a mix of crème Brulé and Americano)
The taste is pretty sweet upfront, with a roasted/coffee - bitterness to it.
Medium bodied, with a slightly fizzy carbonation.

At brewery. Pours black with tan head. Strong goffee, cream in the nose. Very smooth with a light body and roasty finish. This beer would be excellent if it had a thicker body.

Vibrant dark black with faltering tan ringed head. Nose is ridiculous. Very fresh almost cooling oxidation unleashes a rich vanilla scent and lashes of molasses. There’s a nibble of coffee but little room for much else. Firm coffee sweetness, like an expensive Starbucks, but a dense sourness swept in was a bit of a head scratcher. Finish was the coffee struggling back into play. It was like a coffee left overnight that slapped you in the face but had to swallow it and it felt a bit right. Just. Would have have loved to dabble with this earlier on in it’s life.
Just amazing how the nose held without leaking any rusty vinegar in the finish of the taste.

Bottle at Craig’s, thanks! Near black, thin crema head. Slightly oxidised, warm fruity coffee, slight orange fruit nose. Slight dark chocolate sweetness, big vinegar sourness. Definitely off, could have been great!

Bottle, thanks Craig. Near black with not much head. Aroma is incredible, pungent vanilla and chocolate, some oxidised notes that work well with the vanilla. Taste has some sharp sour notes, like vinegar vanilla chocolate. Very tart sourness. Not sure it’s meant to be sour, be much better of it wasn’t.
