Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

0,375l bottle as gift from Denmark. Beautiful reddish black color, medium, creamy, brown head. Delicious, sweet odor, not offensive, but pleasant. Sweet, malty, alcoholly and surprisingly hoppy aroma. A lot of interesting flavours in perfect mixture. It’s so complex, that it’s difficult to describe. Coffee, chocolate malty flavours at the beginning, followed by herbal, grassy and a bit resiny hops. The alcohol is not hidden, but it doesn’t desturb! It’s definitely one of the best beer aroma I’ve ever tasted! Intensive sweet taste with a little bitterness. Full bodied with creamy, oily texture and pleasant carbonation. Long, roasted malty finish with some hoppy flavour too. It’s a fantastic beer. It has a lot of ingredients and they makes the beer this complex and deficious. The harsh roasted malty and hoppy flavours are moderated by the honey and the vanilla. The harmony is perfect between the ingredients. It’s one of the best beer I’ve ever tasted.

From bottle. Pours black, with nice, brown head. Coffee, roast, smoke, biscuits, wine, plum, wood. Perfect mouth feel, nicely balanced, warming alcohol. Spent around two years in my fridge.

Perfect in balans.

Draught/bottle. Very dark brown, almost black in colour, small brown head. Aroma of chocolate, rather sweet with coffee, trufles and vanilla. In taste sweet with chocolate, caramel, vanilla and some booze. Full body, moderate carbonation, finish is ashy and medium bitter.

Bottle. Beautiful appearance: Intense black color, with beige to brown head, of medium persistence. Excellent aroma of roasted malts, cofee alcohol and, maybe, dried fruits. Taste doesn’t follow the aroma. Something between bitter and sweet, with a light sour and alcohol in the final. But not balanced. Less than expected fom a Mikkeller top RIS.

Aus der Flasche getrunken (bei Getränkefeinkost ergattert). Tiefschwarz und undurchsichtig im Glas. Beiger stabiler Schaum.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Piana drobna, dość obfita i całkiem trwała. Wysycenie niskie do średniego, drobniutkie, mało ciała, dość rzadkie i wyklejające w odbiorze.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy but stable tan head. Clear aroma of rast, mcoffee, fruit and malt. Booze in the long nose. Sweetish flavour of malt and fruit, mwith roasty and coffeelike notes and touches of yeast. Warming alcohol presence. Boozy and roasty afteraste with malty hints. Good. Dangerous, though. My rating #5000. Thanks everyone for taking me this far :-) Ooooooh, I’m halfway there!

Poured from the bottle (.375l). Beautiful black beer with creamcoloured head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee and vanilla. This comes back in the taste, together with some honey and dried fruit. The beer is sweet-bitter, while the aftertaste is more or less sweet. Because of the addition of honey the taste is a bit strange in a very good way. Wonderful and complex!

Big creamy beige head with medium retention. Dark brown colour (mahogany). Aroma is complex and rich: roasted prune, liquor, alcohol, espresso, vanilla. Taste is liquor, dry coffee, roasted dried dark fruits. Some fruity acidity finish. As complex and rich as the aroma. Perhaps too much alcohol dominance. Medium-full bodied.
