Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

On tap at Stoutfest at the Armsby Abbey in Worcester, MA. Perfect pour, dark black with a lasting tan head, Flavor is complex, a nutty maltiness and creaminess comes through in the aftertaste. A top notch beer, among the best I’ve ever had.

Aroma - Not many smells coming off this one other than bitterness. Bottled 04/13, so, I kinda expected the aroma to have died down at this point. Appearance - this brew has a very dark appearance; you cannot see through it even when holding it up to the sunlight. Light brown, khaki-like, frothy head that resembles that of a creamy porter. Head does not dissipate. Taste - the taste is ideal for a cool fall day: bitterness on the forefront w/ dark fruit, semi-bitter chocolate, and raisins on the finish. The coffee, however, has dissipated. Medium-full bodied stout. Palate - this is decent on the palate. Despite the high ABV, I envisage this brew being more substantial when fresh. Overall, despite the high ABV, I envisage this brew being more substantial and bold when fresh. Although I can taste some coffee, the coffee flavor did not hold up--as expected--over time. That said, I did enjoy this beer very much.

Wow, heavyweight beer. Aromas of liquorice, cocoa and sweet malts, with a hint of summer berries in the background. This is beer to be slowly sipped, the thick mouthfeel and thump of alcohol come through hard, although there is a slightly bitter finish, making you come back for more . Amazing.

Black with medium brown head. Aroma is sweet with burned malt, liquerice and alcohol. Flavor is quite vinous and sweet with burned malt, chocolate vanilla and liquerice. Finishes bitter

Brakuje gęstości, brakuje czekolady, alkohol silnie wyczuwalny... Słabo! Choć piwo raczej smaczne.

On tap at Brewdog Cardiff, 1/3 pint. Black with a brown head. Aromas of espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice, raisins, slightly tart red berries. Taste is medium-strong bitter and light-medium sweet, spicy warm alcohol. Heavy body, slick warm mouthfeel. Delicious, strength apparent though, less balanced than the best impy stouts I?ve had. Still great.

"the vanilla and coffee are most apparent on the nose. chocolate as well, and a little alcohol. smooth brew, as was a couple of the barreled versions. honey a little more evident in the flavor which is quite sweet, but because of the roasted malt and char character isn’t too sweet. nice beer, but a bit steep to revisit much if at all."

Keg from Brewdog Glasgow. Whoo! Incredibly strong. Black. Intense. Smells like sherry. Bought it not realising it was 13%! Surprise! Although I struggled to drink a third of a pint, it's an interesting and complex beer, if not one to try again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pitch black, small to medium sized brown head. First aroma directly from the bottle was alcohol and hops. Later, from a glass, there was big coffee aroma. Taste is coffee, some brown sugar, berries and hints of alcohol. Sweet coffee finish. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, creamy and oily texture. It gets more boozy at the end. Good Imperial stout, but I had better for cheaper price.

Taste is the same, sweet and bitter, dark chocolate and vanilla, light coffee, fruity and light wineous again. Medium to full body, oily to creamy, flat carbonation, long alcoholic bitter aftertaste.
