COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep to orange blond abbey triple winterbeer which has been lagered for 8 months on different stonefruits. Tsjeeses was born out of a 5 year brew experience regarding x-mas beer without being capable of finding a suitable name up to now. With the name came a face, a caricature actually, that was drawn on the day Urbain, our brew master and master brewer, drank too many Tsjeeses's. Every time he drinks one, he says "Tsjeeses, what a beer". Therefore the name is more an expression of stupefaction than a curse. We have had already many discussions around the pronounciation of "Tsjeeses". Very close would be that you say "cheeses" or cheese in plural.

Taken from the bottle into a tasting glass at the 16th Essen Christmas Beer festival 2010. Honey brown in colour, they use Pilsner, light wheat and caramunich 120 malts according to the festival notes. The smell was of fruits, spices and malt. Not suprising when you realise they add orange peel and grapes in the mash along with mint leaves and cardamom. Unfiltered and unpasteurised the beer retains all those flavours mentioned above, add the three hop varieties from around Poperinge and you have one hell of a beer. The flavours somehow blend into a fantastic tasting beer, each sip being slightly different from the last one. It is more of a ’barleywine’ than a anything else, but whatever style you choose to put it in, it is a wonderful drink.

Pour deep, murky, nutty brown, with a large foamy white head. Aroma is quite spicy, with pepper?, dark fruits, cheese, leather, brown sugar. Plenty of "yeastyness". Also quite boozy, can definitely fell the heat. Taste is sweet, with a well balanced bitter and spicy finish. Medium body, with plenty of fizzy carbonation.

pours dark amber with slight off-white head. aroma of caramel, brown sugar, cloves, orange, and spices. taste has a resinous, grassy quality. plenty of hops bitterness, alcohol, spice and carbonation. the fizz really dances about the tongue. (for me its over carbonated) with a dry bitter/alcohol finish, but its interesting as always from struise. there are probably better examples, but its a classy beer all the same.

Enjoyed from bottle form with a friend who’se moving to Sweden in a week, enjoyed at his going away party. Appearance is an amber gold with a thin white head. Aroma of clove, belgian yeast, a bit of cheese, slight sweet, really complex and great. Taste really balanced for being uniquely complex. Pepper, spice, moderate carbonation and body, awesome stuff.

Ruby/amber colored pour. Small white to off-white head. Little bit of lacing. A slightly funky malty aroma with hints of oranges. Very nice, smooth, malty flavor with a hint of alcohol. A little bready-ness as well. Very smooth, with just a bit too much alcohol. Little less dry and it would be very well balanced. Good regardless.
