Cocoa, Barley, oats and toffee on the nose. Deep blackish mahogany with a brown foam top and beautiful lacing against the glass. Thick and complex roast flavors of coffee beans, burnt caramel, cocoa, barley, bourbon, molasses, roasted nuts upfront. Heavy booze and notes of dates, dark fruits, earthy hops and continuous burnt caramel on the finish. Overall, This is an absolutely fantastic brew with remarkable complexity. Thick, smokey, roasty and an abundance of cocoa, coffee bean and molasses overtones. Iíd give this an A+ rating. Definitely one to cherish.

t first I thought the body was a tad thin to support such a dynamic flavor profile, but then I realized that if it were thicker, it would make the flavor almost too mouth coating and intense to be as drinkable as it is. I agree with the other reviewers who think this beer will be an aging marvel, but for me it is already an absolutely ideal imperial stout, which I find even more rounded and complex than Speedway, and even more remarkable for achieving its decidedly coffeeish flavor component without the actual addition of that ingredient

600ml bottle served in a snifter glass. 2009 Reserve edition. Best after: 11/1/2010 printed in the left side of the label. A: Pours a deep brown to black color forming a absolutely beautiful creamy and thin bubbled beige to brow head. Multi tonalities of brown lacings are formed on the top. Excellent retention and only small spotty lacings left in the glass. A thin layer remains forever on the top S: Very sweet and malty upfront. Strong notes of wood, dark chocolate and coffee. Strong notes of dark fruits, mix of grapes, raisins and figs, mainly. Licorice and caramel. Roasted malts and a some notes of alcohol in the end T: Perfect taste. Sweet upfront with strong notes of coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malts, caramel, caramel malts, oak, grapes, raisins, figs, smoked malts... End is bitter but not extremely. Bitterness is mainly made of roasted malts than hops M: Heavy body. Creamy and molasses. Medium to low carbonation. Roasted malts bitter aftertaste O: Excellent drinkability. A perfect beer is hard to judge [ BA Review @ 2/17/2013 ]

2012 bottling. Pours black with a espresso coloured head. Aroma has lots of bourbon, chocolate pudding, liquorice and sweetness. Taste has chocolate, bourbon, liquorice, soy, sweetness and a nice bitterness at the end. Almost full bodied, low carbonation, soft and round mouth feel.
Very easy to drink, perhaps a wee bit to heavy on the bourbon. Still, very good.

Pours with a fluffy tan head that falls back into the black goodness below. Smells throw out the typical stout roasts and coffee as well as the obvious bourbon nose. For an imperial stout thatís been hanging in barrels this one is easy to drink.

Poured a mostly clear dark brown color with a small beige head. Roasted aroma with notes of coffee grinds and hops running underneath. The flavor was mostly sweet roasted malt. The hops showed up for the finish. Tasty beer.

650 ml bottle. Iíve been waiting this for so long. Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, biscuit and coffee. Flavour of rich roasted malts, coffee, biscuit, dark chocolate, some mild spiciness, wood, smooth bourbon notes, salty licorice and complex earthiness.Full bodied and oily mouthfeel. Barrel accompanies the flavour very nicely. Brilliant balance. It seems that this ages very well and it gets very smooth. Ití salty, itís sweet, itís roasty, itís full of chocolate. Excellent balance. Iíd love to taste this when itís fresh as itís probably very different. Brilliant stuff, I must say.
