Staresti per ore ad annusarla poi improvvisamente ti viene voglia di metterla nel bicchiere. Nerissima con una schiuma marrone blanda e poco persistente. Al palato si rinnovano le stesse impressioni notate a naso: Cioccolato fondente, caffè (in piccola parte) e poi una nota alcolica tipo rhum. Corposa riempie la bocca in maniera elitaria. Ottima. Costa un pò ma se la vedete compratela.

Bottles. Dark black color, very small if any tan head on it. I believe my bottles were from the no carbonation days. Huge bourbon and malt / chocolate smell. Taste was very light carbonation, almost flat, with a lot of bourbon, but enough roasted malts to balance it out. Pretty good stuff, I would like to try it again, but since I do not really do much with beer anymore, I somehow doubt I will.

Tulip glass at Harry’s Hofbrau. Complex boozy, bourbon and deep fruit nose. Raisin. Dark brown with brown highlights. Rich malt. Bourbon. Well balanced.

Deep deep brown almost black with an average sized tan head. Aroma is of oak, vanilla, bourbon, cola, molasses. Taste is heavy in oak, vanilla, booze, caramel, brown sugar, roasted malts.

Bottle. The look is dark, thin tan head, oily, and black in color. The smell is so good, it’s bourbon, woody, heavy, alcohol, malt, and complex. The taste is woody, alcohol, strong, bourbon, malt, and great. Thick and oily.

2013 bottle: poured into goblet. If you love barrel aged whiskey beers, this one is top notch. Clean and smooth all over the place. I want some older viscosity cologne right now!

Draught. This is like engine oil with hops. Its awesome. Perfect balance and bitter roasted malts, hops, and bourbon.

2012 Vintage Bottle. 5/17/13. Pours black with a thin brown head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, fruit, licorice, molasses, chocolate, spicy. Taste is bourbon, alcohol, fruit, vanilla, caramel, coffee, butty, dark chocolate; bitter coffee finish. No lacing. Rich, full mouth feel. Medium-low carbonation. Alcohol very well-hidden. This was fantastic. One of the smoothest rides I’ve had, especially considering the ABV. This is incredible.

2013 vintage bottle. 12% ABV, really? No way, it’s boozy but I would not guess it. Big vanilla and oak nose. Maybe some brown sugar, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Reminds me of an imperial stout. I was expecting a thicker velvety finish, a bit thin. Still an awesome beer.

On tap at Hops and Pie so 12/13 vintage. Boozy hot bourbon nose with vanilla and some dark malts. Slightly translucent at edges and not as thick as I was expecting. I honestly think I prefer Old Viscosity to this....will need to revisit that one cause it’s been a while. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and dark malt. Good but not complex and a bit thin.

Trade from burg at the Swamp Head release. Thanks! Pours black with no head, not as thick as a stout but not thin either. Big bourbon vanilla aroma with some black licorice and chocolate. Thick velvety mouthfeel with nearly no carbonation at all. Thicker than it looked on the pour wow. Big sweet vanilla oak. Lots of bourbon. Definite bit of licorice and hints of cocoa. Lingering and long ladting vanilla on the palate. Lots going on here and a surefire sipper. Old Viscosity was decent, but this really takes it to a new level. Awesome beer.
