Had this beer for the 1st time in 2010 that yr had it 1-2 times. Never bought it last yr cus it’s so much money. Never seen it past december b4 but there was some bottles available so i bought one. Love the artwork that it is on the bottle and not a glued on label. Mabye it needs to be a bit warmer but it start’s off with some water taste, then i can notice some cinnamon & ginger but not super long or strong but noticable. Then on the after taste it seems usally citrus/orange peel taste. I like it still but it’s not super amazing but I like it. Fuck the price btw cheer’s.(Update:when it warms up a bit but is still cold, but less then b4 I dint taste the coldness and wateryness to it anymore, the cinnamon & ginger seem more strong/noticable then b4 and the ginger brings a warmth to the beer)

22oz bottle pours a hazy, copper amber with a frothy, off white head. Big ginger nose, nutmeg, root vegetables, malty, whole grain crackers. Flavor is malty, ginger, orange peel, crackers, coriander. Medium bodied, dry, herbal finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 neongolden (12) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 12, 2012
(On cask at Bryden’s in Toronto) This is the ideal format for this beer in my opinion. Big aroma of spices: cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, some citrus. This is strongly recapitulated in the flavour along with some nuts in the malt, warmth from the spices and a bit from the booze. Moderate mouthfeel, could have a bit more body but quite good overall, smooth as one expects from a cask. A lot better than from the bottle, though not something you can drink much of.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Jayseppi (13) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 27, 2011
The aroma was very nice. Lots of spices; nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. A clear dark copper colour and half a finger of head. The flavour was ok, but a heavier body would be nice. Generally with a winter ale I’m looking for something with a fairly heavy body and ABV and this falls a little short on those fronts.

Clear amber pour, light white head. Aroma and flavour doesn’t fail to provide what it advertises - loads of honey, cinnamon, orange peel, nutmeg, cloves. Pretty much tastes like a Christmas cookie, which is A-OK. Medium oily body, long finish is a little mineral. Little bit overdone. I like this stuff a lot, but one month a year.

Hazy brown orange pour with a white bubbly head. Spice and citrus in the scent. Lots of spice in the mouth. Strong Cinnamon. Coriander. Something bites in the back of the throat. The Cinnamon is a bit too much. Not at all boozy which is surprising. Not sure exactly what it is about this beer but I’m not a big fan.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 DeanF (1477) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
Speaking of endless Canadian winters... try the arctic!! Pours with stormy carbonation and a bright copper body with huge head. The aroma is spicy coriander and orange, just as the label says. The flavour is a little too antiseptic - lots of orange and cinnamon make this more of a watery liqueur than a beer. I guess it’s okay as a spice brew, but there needs more malt character in there - the extras overpower the basic stuff.
