4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 cbkschubert (2684) - Cochise Co., Arizona, USA - JAN 27, 2012
2007 275ml bottle via trade with ygtbsm94 - Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head that didn’t last long. Faint spotty lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, dark fruit, light oak and vanilla, and hints of smoke and chocolate. Flavor is the same as the aroma but a little more intense. The alcohol is noticeable, but not stomach warming. Very light carbonation. Medium to full body. A good beer, but not quite worth the BA Speedway I traded for it.

2009 vintage tasted blind at cgarvieuk’s. Dark brown/black, thin espresso head. Big vanilla, molasses, raisin nose. Sweet syrupy plum front, some dark chocolate, rum & raisin malts. Some booze, deep spices too. Coffee and roast notes on the finish. Fantastic.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 phaleslu (3178) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 10, 2012
275 ml bottle sent by cgarvieuk to bsuedekum- thanks for sending, Craig, and for sharing, Blake! Bottled 16.11.09, best by 16.11.19. Pours a dark, almost opaque coffee brown with a small dark tan head that sticks around as a thin film all the way down. Darker head than the regular GKH. Aroma of charred oak, syrupy chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, licorice, and earth. Dark fruits are even more apparent as it warms. Flavor of chocolate, roast - very malty - oak, vanilla, earth, subtle ash, and more dark fruits. There’s also something we couldn’t quite pin down that seemed unique to this beer. Full-bodied, with a rich, smooth, roasty, malty mouthfeel and low carbonation. Excellent.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 polomagnifico (845) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - JAN 7, 2012
2006 bottle from the legend FONEFAN! Thanks Jan!! Aroma has notes of dark dried fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, peat, sweet malts, and faded resin malts. Black hue with a very small brown head that fully diminished and left no lace. Flavor is very sweet and medium bitter. Palate is very full bodied and oily soft. Overall a lovely Impy but a little past it’s prime. The malt base is nice and complex but the hop profile is totally gone. However, since I’m a fan of Barely Wines this works very much to my favor. The aromas along with the slight oxidation leaves a very nice sipper of an Impy. Smooth and rich. I enjoyed this one.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 ReV2 (11) - Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JAN 2, 2012
Brewed 13 November 2008, 275ml purchased direct from the tiny brewery. Poured with a thin brown head after encouragement from gravity. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel, molasses, Madeira port, Green & Blacks organic chocolate, raisins, banana, the taste sensation goes on. Not like any stout I’ve ever tasted, in fact not like any beer I’ve tasted! Oatmeal? Figs? There’s so much in there, I found myself sipping the last few drops, I don’t want to open my 2009 bottle but how to follow this? Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. And saints and angels. And kings and queens. I feel a 200 mile round trip coming on...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2011
2011-12-10. Black body with a tiny tan head. Flavour of rich dark malt, dark fruit character, truffle like notes, alcohol is noticably present but fairly restrained considering how strong it is. 8+ Rich aroma is similar assortment of rich dark malts, fruit and very light roast. Smooth full bodied palate is lightly carbonated, and sits soundly on the tongue. Rich and full bodied all around. Quite nice, but a little goes a long way with this one and it gets hard to drink after a while. Take note North America - 250 mL is a good sized bottle for a heavyweight such as this! 2007 Vintage Bottle courtesy of tdtm82
