COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with its 8.1% ABV and dark fruit (raisin & plum) undertones. Notes of whiskey aromatics are brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.

Pozharnik is an intensely flavored Russian Imperial Stout infused with espresso and (vanilla beans which are new for 2007) and an improved mouthfeel that compliments its rich chocolate & roasted malt character. Pozharnik is guaranteed to warm a winter chill with it’s increased ABV now at 10%. Undertones of dark fruit (raisin & plum) and licorice with low bittering hops make this vintage beer worthy of cellaring for many years to come. Finishing notes of whiskey aromatics are once again brought on by the aging process in a “single barrel” whiskey cask.
Won a Silver Medal at the 2007 IBF.

Brown/black pour with tan head and lace. Chocolate, coffee, abv, and vanilla. Chocolate, abv warmth, grainy coffee, with a nice malt bitter. Smooth silky start with a watery finish. A coco like bitter.

Black body with a creamy, lightly brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, liquorice. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour. Not bad at all but quite subtle and not very special.

Barrel-aged 2008 vintage. 1L bottle shared at a local tasting. Pours dark brown to black with minimal head & mild lace. Sharp malts and booze dominate the nose. Roasty malts, whiskey, coffee, and more booze. Taste follows the nose. Roasted malts and espresso lead the way; toffee in tow. Solid alcoholic warmth, but not too harsh. A great blend overall. Medium-bodied, low carbonation. This brew would certainly benefit from a bigger body.

/10/9/11/10/9

Bottle [1L] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. 2006 Vintage. Pours black, oily-looking, with no head. Malty aroma along with coffee, light leafy hops, chocolate and dark fruit. Slightly watery, but still nice, flavour of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, a hint of smoke and a dry roasty finish. Average to medium bodied. Good stuff, I quite liked it.

[3625-20110304] 1L bottle. Rich wine aroma characteristics and lots of light roast and wood notes. Black body with a quick foamy brown head. Sweet figgy fruit roast flavour only hints at coffee or espresso. Medium-full body. Good, has held up well. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

2011-03-04. Very dark brown-black body with a small tan head. 3+ Interesting aroma, sweet toffee/caramel, light roasty malt accents, sweet sugary malt notes. Flavour is similar with a sweet malty core, caramel/dark sugar notes, light toasty notes, muted thin espresso character in the background. Smooth average plus bodied palate has likely thinned a lot with age but is surprisingly decent. This has aged rather interestingly, it almost seems more like a doppelbock than an imperial stout at times. Well rounded and pretty drinkable, but overly restrained at times. 2006 Vintage Bottle shared by HogTownHarry
