What a gorgeous mother of a beer! Deep black hole dark - light has no hope of passing throught this beer. I’ve never imagined a beer that thick and dark. Nice dark tan head with a little lace, doesn’t last. Aroma is of bright dark chocolate, dark coffee beans, cooked sweet fruit - apple maybe?, and nice roasty goodness. Mouthfeel is as you would expect - syrupy thick - with velvety soft carbonation. Starts light - tate doesn’t show up until the middle of the tongue. Starts with dark chocolate, carbon, licorice, maybe a hint of vanilla, deep woodsiness. Develops more into dark burnt roast - tastes like a campfire - in a good way. Alcohol is warming, but not overdone. An overlying sweetness doen’s compete with the bitterness but keeps it from being unpleasant. Kind of a meatiness in the end, crips bitterness lasts in the end. What a glorious beer. I will dream of this, and I may write a song about it.

Black pour with a brown head. Lots of aroma coming off with coffee, espresso and chocolate right upfront and some caramel in the background. Flavour is all coffee and chocolate and fiinishes off with some heat in the exhaust from the alcohol. Tiny bit of carbonation that makes for a creamy slightly oily mouth feel.

Oskar Blues is the latest Colorado brewer to wagons east it up to the NE market, and follow the trend of canning. (More on that later.) Aroma of roasted oats soaked in a schwarzbier. There’s some brown sugar in there, though its burnt too. This beer looks more like crude oil than any beer I can remember. This is likely what they pour down Markie Mark’s throat in ’Three Kings.’ Tastes smokey and clearly bitter although the 98 BUs listed have to try very hard to appear through the sludge. Combines elements of porters and doppels. Viscous and heavy, though fluffy on the palate. This much two row in a beer provides a sunglasses effect: you can stare straight into the hoppiest sun and not get burned. This applied to the alcohol as well, which is perceptible only subtly in the aftertaste. This beer is excellent, and probably prohibitively expensive to brew. About the can, which seems to b a trend in microbrewing as of late. Canning has two advantages: it repels skunking light, and attracts hipsters. Unfortunately while it doesn’t really effect swilly lagers, a nuanced ale may wind up tasting like aluminum siding if canned for awhile. This big stout has nothing to worry about.

Poured from 12oz can to tulip. I wish more breweries had the balls to fill a can with 10.5% RIS. Canned 11/11 and "CHARLIE MURPHEY!" printed on the bottom of the can. I’m already impressed... Pours a deep dark motor oil inky black... dark as the devil’s dick with several fingers of medium mocha head. Solid lacing. Super roasty and woody with the addition of some sweet figs and plum. Plenty of brown sugar and well-incorporated alcohol notes. Some hot licorice begins to surface with a bit of warmth. The taste is nearly unsurpassed - toasted wood, mild coffee, fig, vanilla bean, more brown sugar, soft booze, it pretty much incorporates a piece of every memorable impy stout I’ve had. Not as if that makes for a perfect beer, but definitely a good one.

Incredibly thick dessert beer. Loaded with rich dark chocolate, nut and roasted flavors, along with some sweet caramel and moderate hop bitterness. Very smooth and enjoyable, but one is enough for the night.

Pours Über black with a nice khaki head about two and half fingers in length. Immediately I smell cocoa powder, booze, pine needles, walnut, roast, and rubber. Tastes predominately of cocoa beans, pine resin, black liquorice, milk sugar and heat. Viscous yet undeniably chewy and smooth.

Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, booze and some caramel. Rich, oily viscous mouth feel, unashamedly full bodied. Some coffee, caramel on the palate continuing with full on dark malts, intense all round experience and the hop bitterness is also present. Perfect dessert beer

Can shared at Haket, Goteberg. Black pour with a big beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Same in flavour with coffee, caramel and a medium bitterness. Full bodied and oily, it’s most certainly the best beer i’ve had from a can.

Pours pitch black with a beautiful thin creamy brown head. Leaves a little light brown lacing around the glass as you drink. Chocolate, heavy roasted malty notes, and hints of sweet caramel dominate both the aroma and flavor. Even at 10.5% ABV, the alcohol is really well hidden. Heavy body and balanced carbonation make for a really drinkable imperial stout. This is a phenomenal beer... easily one of my new favorite stouts!
