poured from 11.2oz "mini" bottle - What can I say to do this beer justice? It is f’n fantastic on all appreciable levels. The sour apple and plum; the rich mahogany hues; the biting sour finish. This is the real deal of sours right here. This Duchesse imparts a smooth, lactose creaminess paired with a welcomed sourness. It really is one of the best of its kind.

Amazing beer. Oatmeal coloured head with good retention and some lacing. Hazy, red beer. Scent is sour cherries and plums. Surprising amount of carbonation but not in a bad way, mouth filling flavours of caramel, sour cherry, raisins and a touch of leather, that last in a tantalising fashion. Well balanced. I am really pleased with this one. As Obi said ’These are the beers you are looking for.’

Punertava ruskea, katoava vaahto. Tuoksu hedelmäinen, makea. Suutuntuma miellyttävä, ohut, kevyen hapokas. Maku makea, hedelmäinen, hyvin hapan, maltaisen täyteläinen. Kokonaisuutena mielenkiintoinen tuttavuus

Bouteille 33cl au Wine More Time, Bordeaux. Un bel exemple de oud bruin flamande, arome et goût de vinaigre, un superbe équilibre entre acidité et amertume. Un délice!

"can’t pronounce it, but i liked it. pours an attractive mahogony red, aroma is sweet & fruity, taste is very sweet with a mouth puckering sour smack to the mouth before finishing sweet again. of the 5 sours we tasted together, this was the most flavorful, and finished a close 2nd to the Dissident. 3/10-a little smoother and sweeter on tap. just as good. 2/10-still an acquired taste, but i’ve acquired it. beautiful aromatic, flavorful and complex. there is a malt vinegar characteristic, but it’s just so smooth and pleasing to drink, as are other good sours. 2/11 - had a 750 for the first time. why a green bottle? the small ones are brown, and the beer is better. 750 was a little blah and not as sour as usual."

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 Beautiful dark blood-red color with small head. Cherry sweetness and fruits, oaks, yeasts. Very sweet taste, also sour, but the sweetness dominates. Tastes like sugar. Lots of sugar. Too sweet. Way too sweet. I prefer the more sour versions, but this one is still not too bad a Flanders Red.

750ml bottle poured in a Chimay chalice. A: Amber color with a huge fluffy head. Good retention and some nice lacings left S: Very fruity, grapes mainly. Malts and oak. Metallic. Smell of Lambic yeasts all around. Very Flamish Red Ale T: Sweet and sour. Fruity. Malt, oak and Belgium yeasts. Reminds a Lambic M: Light body. Very carbonated. Nice sour aftertaste D: Delicious beer. Duchesse is something between a Faro Lambic and a Barley Wine. Quite easy drinking. Interesting experience. After the first glass I though: "too sweet and perhaps too ’winy’"... After the second glass I felt in love :p... Very drinkable, 750ml gone like water... [ BA Review @ 10/23/2009 ]
